Another shave is in the books. Cooper MonoBilt / Astra SP(4) IB Amici Satin Tip The Purest Alum Nivea sensitive ASB Another cold water shave this morning. Only two passes since I didn't have a lot of stubble to work with since I shaved late on Saturday. Two passes WTG and XTG felt very comfortable. CWR and then the alum and felt a little sting. I don't have a lot of experience with the alum but I find it curious that the two warm water shaves that I used the alum with had no sting while the two cold water shaves had a little sting. It could also be that the two warm shaves started with a new blade while the two cold shaves were number 3 and 4, though I didn't notice any tugging and the blade felt like it was cutting cleanly. A little Nivea ASB (not that I really needed it I just like the silky smooth feel) and a two pass DFS from the cooper. I am ready to move on to another razor to finish out the month but I am still trying to decide which one. Possibilities are : Cadet OC 82 Black Beauty (Birth year and quarter) Schick Krona Gillette Red Tip Gillette New LC or SC Have a great day everyone!
Honestly, I didn't pay too much attention to what angle the head was. As soon as I got the sound and feel of cutting comfortably on my cheeks, I just rode the cap and kept it at that angle the whole time I was shaving. That's what I mean by saying I think my technique has improved to the point that I have reduced and almost eliminated the learning curve with a new razor. This one was more comfortable and efficient than an injector, and seemed to plow through whiskers better than a DE.
Straight Mayhem It's official, straight razor shaves are no longer intimidating. In fact, I got up before my alarm so I would have time for a nice shave. I stropped this baby and proceeded to have a nice two pass shave. One pass WTG and one pass XTG is enough for almost BBS. I do not do an ATG pass and haven't seen a need for one. Great razor! Well....I was planning a nice shave today besides the head shave with the CJB I will be doing but sadly the mail came before I shaved. I just received from our dear "friend" @Drygulch: 3 Tiger 3 hole blades (Yes those ones @NCoxSTL ) 2 Concord DE Blades (Never heard of them so don't know if they are good or attempted murder blades. 2 Kamisori AC Blades (I have heard good and bad (99.9999% bad about these blades.) However just for blood and giggles I give you all 3 options... I will check back in a bit and go with whichever one has the most votes. 1. Full Face and Head Shave, 4 passes, Old Type/Tiger 3h 2.Full Face and Head Shave, 4 passes, CJB/ Kamisori 3.Use whatever you want Ray... We love you and don't want you to hurt yourself... BTW 4 passes means on 4 passes on the head and face (XTG, XTG Other Direction, ATG, ATG) not 2 passes on the face and 2 passes on the head and done. I await your choices.
Oh.... the Cloud? As mild as they come. As go ood or better than Voskhod. You can trust me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
I know I'm going to kick myself for this one but #3 in the second set, going to try and give you a break! you have suffered a lot in the name of Mayhem this month so use what ever you want, This Time is my vote.
I will stand arm in arm with my BOPS brothers, except my desire for revenge got in the way. I should feel ashamed. I don't.
MAYhem 2016!! May 23 Razor - '59 Ball End Tech Blade - (3) Brush - Tweezerman, the el-Cheapo model Soap - Williams Mosquito Repellent Post - Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of aloe vera, just to try and remoisturize, cool down, and lull me into a state of bliss. Didn't work It's the @Keithmax round two shave today.....but......before we get there we have to make an extra stop. The Pain Stick Head Shave Challenge was up first. @Mr. Freeze93 threw this challenge at me last week after he had tried to remove his head in pieces with the CJB. So, today I saddled up the new CJB Greager, threw in a Dorco AC blade and went for a full head shave with the stick. I have shaved the sides of my head with it before, but never the rest. I used my normal VDH Deluxe soap and VDH boar for the head shave. I considered a different lather but this one is usually nice and slick. I'm gonna need it. Sides were not a problem at al. Nice and flat, easy to reach, and even my mostly useless appendage of a left hand did a fine job there. And, working down the back of my head and neck was easy enough. It's fun to use the stick on a week old growth as it really gets rid of it quick! I worked top of the head to my neck in long strokes, rinsing and moving as I progressed. Then, I worked back up the neck toward the top. My only bleed was when I changed angle wrong coming toward the top of my head, just on the right side. I adjusted wrong from looking in the mirror and felt a bite. Just a bit of blood. Other than that, I finished up with a very nice smooth head, and the picture proves I'm not lying. I'm extremely happy with that result. May even try to register the name "Pain Stick Boss" for that one! Now, on to the @Keithmax shave. Blendax in the Tech. Tech is great. Blendax is a horror show. Williams...first time this month....and I can honestly say I haven't missed its smell. Or its lather. Or anything about it at all. The Tweezerman brush did ok but barely. Soft, shedding, just not a quality tool. It got the Williams to the point it should have been lather but, as usual, wouldn't hang around long. I worked fast to keep some lather in play but this blade on its third use is as dull and desperate as they come. Felt like it was ripping the hair out. Also managed to create a few weepers and even grabbed once to put a nice notch on my neck. They don't come much worse than this blade at the point. I tried a second pass but threw in the towel on it. I wasn't getting any real reduction and was just making things hotter and more dangerous with each attempted pass. It's a sad day when a dangerous head shave is more comfortable and produces a better shave than a Gillette Tech can. It's definitely not the razor's fault, though. Nor is it even Williams' fault. (Dang) It's all on the Blendax. Tomorrow the second round @Rufus T. shave arrives and it's the Wildcard! It's the Durham Duplex, that crazy looking early straight like razor that only Personna makes a real blade for. Lather by Arko and the Marvy brush. If you can call that thing a brush. Happy Monday everyone! Or Saturday for me!
