I think I've broken the code on why these blades are so bad. On the Czech Blades website, there is a statement on "Environment" which reads, in part:
I can only come to the conclusion that one of the steps they took was to remove the use of Steel from the manufacture of Tiger blades.

Very astute and I have a feeling you are right! Iron will rust away and disappear much faster than steel, and other softer metals even more so!

Okay, so a question for the honing experts... what would be the properties of an Iron razor? Would it even hold an edge?

One saving grace in all of it... someday all the Tiger blades will have rusted away.

That is a good question. Since I"m definitely no honing expert I'll grab some popcorn and wait for an answer.

I guess my horrible shave wasn't bad enough... did you send the jerk I just posted a picture of on the last page to finish me off?

I would imagine you could put an edge on an iron blade, but it wouldn't be flexible enough to be practical, plus it would oxidize, rust, and get pitted faster than you could keep it honed. Just my initial thoughts.

Unable to stop laughing I'd say kill him with a tiger blade, but I'm thinking that wouldn't work.

In old Kingdom Egypt, bronze razors were the tool of the day. I'm not sure iron is able to be honed into a razor.

Yes it is. I am such a fan of the 30 Day threads. They have helped my shaving skills immensely. Thanks guys!

That first day when I was "straight shaving" and not "trying to avoid injury with a straight" was a really good feeling! So glad you got there quick!

I did get a nasty injury in the process but am confident now without being overconfident. It is a really good feeling. Now to learn how to hone.

Pre Shave: Hot shower, Nivea face wash

    Razor: Gillette Fat Boy
    Blade: GSB
    Soap: Haslinger sandalwood
Brush: TGN Badger in olive wood handle

Post: cold water rinse, Maggard Alum, witch hazel, Nivea cooling after shave Balm

I just about caught the baby tonight it was just inches away. I prepped tonight by soaking my brush and blooming my soap in hot water tonight while I got my shower. I started with rehydrating my face and using the bloom water to get a good start on about a 2 1/2 day growth. I lathered my Haslinger real well and took more time lathering my face and developed a real thick lather for my first pass WTG, I made sure I rode the cap and that cut down the stubble real close. My second pass was XTG which left me feeling pretty close again making sure I rode the cap with no pressure. The third pass I made extra sure I used 0 pressure as I went ATG, with a little clean up at the end. I rinsed my face with cold water and then ran my alum block over my face, I got some tingling but no burn and I couldn't see any irritation at all. I then applied the witch hazel and let it dry for a few minutes, followed by letting that dry and applying the AS balm. I was so close to catching that baby tonight but I thought that had I pushed it I would have just irritated my skin. My shaves keep getting better and better and someday I hope to get that true BBS shave I hear so much about without irritation, maybe even before Mayhem is over.

I had it set on 2 and it was the second day with this blade.

In my opinion, way to mild for Baby chasing. I humbly suggest 4 for pass one, then go up to 5 all the rest. The razor will require even less pressure.

Rufus T will tell you that I have the settings backwards... So maybe try it that way too, he gets good results his way too.

I may try that I usually increase the number a little at a time as long as I get a good shave.

It's the "slithering in the shorts" comment, not the pain, that made me laugh.

In my defense you can never be too sure with this group. I would bet a lot of the "laughing with me" is more "laughing at me".

That's what I get for wearing shorts. Knew I should have stuck to jeans.
