SOTD 5/25/16 Pre: shower, Nivea face wash Razor: Gillette Fat boy Blade: GSB Brush: TGN in olive handle Soap: Lo Haiku limited edition Post: Cold water rinse, Maggard Alum block, Witch hazel, Nivea sensitive Balm Ok tonight's shave wasn't the best, I took Bama Samurai suggestion some what. I put my brush in hot water, and bloomed my soap till I got out. First pass was decent WTG but I got a few weepers while riding the cap on 4. Second pass I reduced it down to 3 for the XTG pass and found a few additional weepers that I then rubbed with my alum. Third pass was ok ATG on 3 as well, but by the time I finished that pass I had to reapply the alum to get them to stop weeping and felt some burn. I then ran cold water over the Alum again and went over my whole face, my cheeks were BBS but my neck, well lets just say I have had better. I splashed on some witch hazel and let that dry before putting on my regular Nivea after shave balm. I think it was a decent shave but I think between the soap and starting out on 4 it was a bit much. Maybe with a different soap it would have turned out better, maybe next time. No regrets on this shave, I'm somewhat new to wet shaving and it's a learning thing, besides it's Mayhem. LOL
See this is why I need to get the company to allow forums on our system. I had to wait an extra four hours to get in on this!!!!! Oh my, oh my oh my. Where to even begin. Let's see....."feel something slithering in my shorts"......is that a first? I mean, well, ok, I won't go there. Totally. Yet. Save some for later. What makes this even better is I keep snakes. Have for years. Used to keep the big boys, Burmese Pythons and such. Now just have four more manageable ones around. But yeah. I really am just typing trying not to let the stream of consciousness go where it's trying. I feel for you bro - but-as one who has felt slithering in my shorts. Nope, not gonna go there.
If the cartel wanted you dead it would have been a bigger snake. With fangs. And venom. That guy is just the early warning system.
Happy Anniversary!!! And may you have many more. However you hooked her it sounds like it was a all good. Hope you had a great day together and you get to sleep inside instead of the doghouse tonight.
MAYhem 2016!! May 25 Razor - Rimei Blade - (1) Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Soap - Marvy Post - Cold Water, Alum, The Veg The @Drygulch shave! Second round and he gave me an absolute gift. The Voskhod. I broke out in song, sang the fight song and wept for joy. Even the razor wasn't bad. Rimei is mild but paired with the Voskhod it can give a fine shave. One of the few Sino-Soviet ventures to work out. And, he gave me the Wolf. Man oh man I love this guy. Well, like since he landed on Marvy soap. Even the Wolf has problems with this soap though it was better than some this month. I loaded it pretty heavy and added water on the face which seemed to help it last at least reasonably long. Still tries to disappear too fast. And, it's still drying. Three full passes to let the mild razor do its work and ended up near BBS. Kind of got behind schedule just from enjoying it that much so let it end at a near and not full BBS. Still a fine shave. Of course the smell of the Marvy was less than pleasant but the Veg after a very mild Alum run took care of that nasty odor. Not a bad shave at all. Tomorrow is the @PLAla second round. He said he hoped he'd give me a good shave. Well, the brush is the Vie-Long 12705, the Horse. Not bad. The blade is the Shark. Could be better. How in the world he landed on MARVY for the soap again I have no idea. I swear the soap is rigged somehow this month. The razor.....the Mladost II. I see a bit of a problem in the morning. Yeah, Soviet razor, 4th time on the Shark blade and Marvy. At least I'll have the thought of @Mr. Freeze93 's slithering problem to cheer me up. And......hey @Joe Babb it's your second pick for my MAYhem shave this month! You know the drill so let's see some numbers! In honor of @Mr. Freeze93 's encounter, here's a picture of a real snake. If this one decides to slither in your shorts.....LOOK OUT! Great looking Burmese Python.
Oh come on man that's not fair.... you got a whole pic of that snake... the one that bit me was massive...massive I say!!!.... you just couldn't tell because his body was hidden under a tiny rock.... Ok fine he was like 6 inches long... I was surprised... don't normally see Garter Snakes that small... every other one I have come across has been decent size... at least the bigger one would have been a cooler story... but no.... I get bit by Junior the Pip Squeak...
I remember one of my baby kingsnakes I had back around 2002 when I was raising them decided to take a bite of me while I was trying to get him to pose for a picture. Yes, seriously. I felt something funny on my pinkie, like an itch, looked down and he was hanging on for dear life going at it like a big snake. I laughed myself into tears watching him be a "fierce" snake. Now, later on when he grew up he did it again. Wasn't so funny then.
Thursday Focus Shave Vorpal straight razor Straight shaving has become very consistent, while there is some variation between shaves for the most part I can count on getting a good to great shave. Today was no exception, I finished with just a little feed back from the alum and BBS after 4 passes. Irritation A- Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A
Yeah when they get big the biting is no longer funny. I had a Red Tail Boa for a while... once I got tagged trying to feed him 4 days in a row I sold him to my uncle lol.
My king snake was funny compared to the 14 ft red tailed boa. I kept a bottle of listerine in a bottle with a pour lid like they use in bars for the alcohol. Worked great to make them let go without hurting them. I had some near every cage and feeding bucket. I miss having my kingsnake. He liked to snuggle. I know it as just him stealing my warmth.
Sounds like the G is getting it done! In my experience, those blades are good for 12-15 shaves, making them less costly than people might first believe.
I've never used a Red, but word around the campfire is that it is Gillette's most aggressive SS geometry. Maybe go even more "on the cap", sounds like you scraped a little. Tomorrow will be perfect.
Sorry about the rough day! I've found that when dialed in, the spike point is super useful around the nose and corners of the mouth. You'll have it smoothed out in short order!
I'll take the blame for that one. Sorry for the scrapes! Just keep at it, within a month you'll wonder how you shaved the other ways for so long!
