Still have an annoyed wife. Exhibits Q and R. These weren’t new purchases, but I sent them out to be cleaned up, and just got them back. Bryan Mathis at Mathis Restorations did the work. Boker is honed and ready for tomorrow’s shave. Thistle has the bevel set, and I am going to work on my honing skills with it.

How's that couch feeling?

 

Not as comfy as I thought. The recliner is better. There is also a wet shave meet up this weekend. That might cause some additional acquisitions. I still have one straight inbound, and one at Glenn's getting some brass installed. I might get closer to exhibit Z than I like.

 

My Two Toggles and Red Tip finally came in from Chris Evatt(Razorplate.com) and he did an excellent job with the replates. One Toggle is in Rhodium, another in Gold and the Red Tip is Nickel finish. Highly recommend Chris work. Pics are not hi res but you get the idea of the quality of his work.

 

man I keep searching for a toogle, I know its out there but no dice yet...those 2 are AMAZING.

 

Got lucky with both. First toggle (gold plated) I have had for 2.5 years and got in a trade. 2 Pipes and tobacco gear for it and then in February came across the other one listed at a decent price. Both were in very good shape but couldn't resist having them replated. The Red Tip was in excellent shape too, just two small spots on the handle that had chipped so sent that along too.

 

you made the right call...all of those are any wet shavers dream razors, and in dream condition.

Went by Fred's Discount Pharmacy this morning. Bad idea.



The good new is all of this was $11 or $12. I know some of you are scoffing at the Williams Mug Soap, but I intend to experiment with it and am determined to get a lasting lather from it. I have some tips from an older thread in the Shave Soap section.

The gear included:

A 3pc German made DE razor - the Rotbart. Contained in it's original case and including an original blade. Very different than any Gillette I've tried.

A synthetic bristle brush from The Body Shop. I have enjoyed Omega boar bristle, and am learning to like a Vulfix badger. Synthetic is totally new to me. I will use it next shave.

A full tub of Proraso Pelli Sensibili Sapone. Or Sensitive Shave Cream for us monolingual Americans. An Italian soap with a light scent. Also to be tried on my next shave!

Very generous samples of four more Italian soaps;
RazoRock - XXX (Top Notes: Bergamot, Orange, Lemon, Orange Blossom. Heart Notes: Lilac, Lavender, Rose, Basil.Base Notes: Hay, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Musk, Sandalwood, Oakmoss.)
RazoRock - Son of Zeus (Inspired by the popular men’s cologne, Terre d'Hermès by Hermès, the fragrance features notes of orange, gunflint, flint, vetiver and benzoin.)
Saponificio Varesino - Dolomiti ( Top notes of light citrus lemon, with a hint of sage. The core is floral and definitely lavender, with a hint of cloves and black pepper. The tail is characterized by amber and woody vetiver, patchouli and cedar wood.)
Saponifico Varesino - Manna di Sicilia (Lightly scented with Top notes of Orange, Bergamot and Sage. Mid notes of Tobacco flower, rose, cloves and hydrangea and Base notes of Cedar wood, Amber and sweet patchoully.)

And to round out the Super Duper box full of fun - A couple 5 packs of Sputnik blades ( I've enjoyed every Russian blade so far) and some chocolates!

Wow, another haul today! I got my GEM Micromatic Open Comb with five blades from @Keithmax. It was in the mailbox! It was coming from South Korea and I didn't expect it quite so soon. Thanks, Keith!

Very nice! You're going to get great shaves out of that razor. I have the brass version and I love it.

Thanks, guys! I'm really looking forward to trying it out. I prefer the open comb head on my DE so I'm really intrigued by OC on the GEM.

 

Lol its weird that I have to be sneaky about shaving gear, but I usually just say "I've had that for a while" which may be a few months, or an hour. It's always better to evade the truth than to lie.
