Your right about that, except I haven't tried one in my HD. I've put allot of stray blade's through the ole gal and everyone so far seems to work. I've been using her to use up my extra blades that I've accumulated along the way.

Interesting, do you think the blade just didn't have the stamina for a 5th shave ?

When the six weeks are up, I'm going to chart razor/shave #/results and see if I can find any pattern hidden in there.

A most excellent shave. Not quite BBS, but MES! Very comfortable.

*City tap water is starting to warm up as the mercury creeps higher. I keep a bottle of water in the fridge to use as a refreshingly cold splash after that final rinse.

I usually don't have a problem with cold water from the tap. But then again our water sources are generally supplied by melting snow and mountain reservoirs!

After spending 4 months back and forth between bunch of blade brand I found out Today that Voskhods are the blade for me, on the top of the 100 I have I ordered 300 more from ebay that cost me $19 shipped... Not sure how long they last but I do toss a blade after 3 shaves, maybe I can try and go for a 4th shave with it. No doubt these blades are for me, the GSB seems will last longer and maybe a tad bit sharper, but they are not as smooth and forgiving as the Vokhod and considering the GSB cost $16-$17 for 100 pack, add $3 more and I got 300 of the Voskhods. I'm personally very happy with this blades

I know it shouldn't, but I'm wondering if head geometry is the deciding factor on how the voskhods perform/feel

The thing that baffles me most is how one blade, namely Astra SP, can perform so well in any razor I drop it in, and how other blades, the Derby and Voskhod that I have been testing, only do well in certain razors.
Maybe the chart I draft up after this challenge will validate your theory.

I get a week's worth of shaves too from my Astra SP's though for me typically it's 5 or 6 shaves. Easy to remember to change the blade every Sunday night.

Glad you're doing this study. Very informative.

I've enjoyed following along on this thread Steve. I like the way you're doing the test. Lots of the reviews you see on the internet are usually just based on a guy shaving with one blade a few times. The longer term format you've got here is great!

Your experience with Voskhod seems to mirror my less rigorous sampling. In some razors, Voskhods feel dull and uncomfortable for me to use. I just happened to throw a Voskhod in my Fatip Piccolo this morning though and that razor is a pretty good match. The blade felt smooth and sharp. Of course maybe I got the one blade in the pack that's a real gem.
