Tuesdays shave Yesterdays shave went so well I did the same again today. Razor - R41 Blade - Feather Lather - MDC fougere Brush - Razorock Plissoft Aftershave - Nivea balm Sent from my LG-V480 using Tapatalk
Last day of May and this shave was a fine example of the magic of the 30 day focus! I had 3 days of beard growth and riding the cap with the Red Tip took it all down in two passes. It was rather shocking as I was rinsing after the second pass getting ready for the third when I discovered that there was no need for a third because all of the stubble was gone. Not just DFS gone but BBS gone. Did a final rinse with cold water and the Alum was quiet. Followed the Alum with some Witch Hazel and Nivea PSB and I am ready to conquer the day! I am excited to get back to my blade trials and now that I've had 30 days with the Astra SP to use as a baseline I hope that I will be able to be a little more discerning with my trials. For June I will continue to focus on technique and riding the cap as I feel it is THE technique no matter the razor or the blade. Happy shaves and a great day to you all my friends!

May 31/2016 Razor: Unknown (3 piece) Blade: Super Max (1) Brush: VDH Badger Cream: Premo Original Pre Shave Oil: Homemade AS: Gillette Gel/Brut Splash On Using a 1/2 DE blade, my 1st pass, ATG. AS smooth as can be expected, no bumps, grinds or weepers. On the 2nd pass, WTG, pretty much the same, with a few extra strokes, then a little extra lather to clean my face to a BBS. One happy camper. Wish the same for all. Bill
31may16 My first SR shave in over a month. I'm happy to report no nicks or scrapes. I'm able to get everything but my chin, hence the need for a DE for a third and final pass.

May 31, 2016 SOTD 60-yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (ONE YEAR AC!*) With May 2016 coming to an end, so does my first year on TSD and as a convert to this way of shaving. Thanks to all TSDenizens, especially on this thread, for not only your depth of knowledge but your willingness and efforts to share it all with newbies like me. This 1st year would not have been as successful for me without all of you. In fact, without your help I may not have even made it through the year. (though come to think of it, I wouldn’t have contracted all the Acquisition Disorders either! Oh well, life has trade-offs.) The first shave of my second year, will replay the very first shave I had in May 2015. (I realized quickly that day, that the pictured Pinaud products did not choose me, so I opted for the Proraso after that first shave. Pinaud still denies me membership to this day, but Proraso has embraced me!) Today’s shave, pretty much the same as a year ago: Hot Shower Razor: Gillette Tech 3-piece “Fat Handle” Blade: Astra Stainless Brush: Omega Pro 48 Soap: Arko Stick Aftershave: Proraso 2-day growth, 3-pass shave. Wow, what a fantastic shave! Smooth shave, just riding the cap to an easy BBS. Cheers! RT (AC* = After Carts)
