Thanks to @Erik Redd, I plan on getting some spear style stems. I haven't looked at that website yet, I assume they have both vulcanite and acrylic. I lean toward acrylic right now. I may try bending with a candle first, holding a little higher than I have done with vulcanite. Then try it with hot water, see which one works best. This looks like an inexpensive way to replace the plastic MM stems, as well as a good solution for the briar with a broken stem.
I've mostly gotten away from Latakia blends (@Bama Samurai slipped into my garage and got most of my Latakia ), but when I do have Latakia, this Scottish blend is what I like!
Late morning pipe, OGS folded and stuffed in a Chacom Canadian, with black medium roast coffee in my Jacksonville State University Gamecocks mug.
Smoker's Pride Mellow in a MM General. The person who recommended the Pipe Makers Emporium stems wrote that he also funneled the tenon, so I did the same. Here's a funneled and regular tenon. And since @BamaT asked, here's the ribs after three hours. I turned them over and added some charcoal.
And here are the ribs after using the Texas Crutch (wrapping in aluminum foil). So fall off the bone tender that one broke in half. I like to put them back on the grill for 20 minutes after taking out of the foil. Edit - of course there's so much fat in these I felt my arteries clogging up while I was eating.
Hydrated JAEM in a Nording bent apple, while chicken is slow cooking on the Weber! The hydrated JAEM may give a longer smoke, but it seems to have changed the taste a bit. I still like it, but it was better before; I may have overdone the hydrating. I may do just a little drying, see how that works.
I did some chicken and ribs myself yesterday. I smoked several bowls but didn't take any pictures. It was a good day until we got a call from my daughter about being involved in a fender bender. Everyone was alright so that's the most important thing, cars can be fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got the yard cut, now I am sitting in my mud room watching TV and smoking a shop blend from my local shop called creme brûlée Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like it's going to be another interesting week again for our part of TX Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
