The Haul: June 2016

A 1948 but with 1947 patient markings. Purchased based on one photo and a 5 word description. It looked to be in very good condition so I initially bought to get the white blade dispensor and had planned to sell the the razor - but was I suprised. The razor and case are mint and it looks like it has never been used. Even the black case hinges have no trace of grime or rust. I'm always amazed and wonder how and where these jewels were kept for all these years to remain in such virgin condition. A nice way to start June.

Sorry didn't mean to brag that wasn't my intent. Was just giving another example to those that still think there aren't great deals out there for those with time, perseverance, and lots of luck. Some folks sell the stuff w/out realizing it's value while other's try to sell not realizing it has little value. Bad for them good for us I guess. I think luck and timing has the most to do with it. Last month (another brag) I picked up a Rocket Blue tip on BIN for 40 bucks. At first I could not believe it was there at all, then at that price, and then I almost dislocated my buy finger hitting the buy button. I know that bugger couldn't have been on-line for more than a few minutes - but again good timing. After the sale I kept fretting that the seller was going to realize his mistake and recall the sale. But nope. I've got the little jewel safely in my razor drawer. Another happy ending but maybe another day we can discuss my little "aw nuts" purchases.

 

Lol it's all good. We all stumble on the good luck bus. I'm always happy for someone that get a great deal. I've been fortunate quite a few times. I say brag away.

Two packages today. The first one from my friend Guy @ram57 . A sample of Dr Johns hydra.it smells so good and I can't believe how soft it is.and a sample of Jeeves of Hudson Street conservatory.The only way I can describe the scent is classy.


Is the second package was my vintage Ericsson razor. it is definitely not steel. The handle is hollow nickel plated brass. The top cap is also nickel plated brass.I'm not sure what the bottom is but it is a dark metal peeking out from where the plating is worn off. none of it is magnetic.

The teeth look very similar to the Gillette new short comb. It has a fair amount of blade exposed and doesn't put that much flex in the blade at all.
