The fit and finish on the Tanifuji straights is as good as any of the old European manufacturers IMO. Just superb.

My first shave with this vintage EIKO 'Glory.' I was swayed to pick this up as the blade shape reminded me of the King pelican I'm so fond of.
This was another one of those ebay purchases from a known Japanese seller that can be risky as his auction photos leave much to the imagination and you're really not sure what you're getting until the razor arrives. Pretty sad-looking in the images.

Disassembly and thorough cleaning/refurbishing/re-pinning of both scales and blade revealed a real looker underneath! Not a bad deal for $60.

Honed up beautifully and truly a smooth shaver—right up there with the Pelican. Scales are pretty snazzy too. :D

Quest semi-complete. Not sure what I bought other than a Schick injector. Bama referred to it in so many words as straight razor training wheels. If I don't like it the case will display on a shelf and I didn't pay a lot for it.

New Portland Razor Co. Hydra. I like this razor. The Spanish Point is nice for getting under the nose. My only complaint is the Walnut scales. The grain is not as tight as I would have liked. Shave ready on delivery. Classic Shaving badger brush. Goodwill bowl. PRC hydra.JPG

72nd anniversary of D-day. The Greatest Generation of men will always be remembered in my mind and heart.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't shave this morning. I just received some straights back from rework and decided to use one now, for a 2:30pm shave. While I get a definite smoother shave from DEs, I am beginning to really like using a straight razor. A little rough in spots but nothing visable and definitely passable for a work shave (if I had to go to work).
