Great now we will be fighting over pipes in estate sales and antique stores with shave guys as well... Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Anyone know much about Kaywoodie Fine Line pipes? Saw one in an antique shop near me that looked (to me anyway) to be in decent shape for 10 bucks. Thinking about picking it up and trying my hand at cleaning it up.
I like the idea of using those lucite stems on cobs, and also for a pipe with a broken stem. I might prefer them to be slightly shorter, but they look good. Have you tried bending one yet?
A little Cult blood red moon in my Country Gentleman w/ Dagner stem mod... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bent a couple of the stems today. Using a MM I didn't care for with a pipe cleaner extending out the stem to keep it off the bottom, I simmered for five minutes. I then bent the stems around a round hammer handle I had. Of course, I had to try one in a Mark Twain with a little OGS as a test. It worked well, although I think the bend is a little more than I care for. I'll give them a couple of weeks to see if they straighten out a bit. If not, I may reheat and reduce the bend.
Trying out my new travel case, over at my parents house for my moms birthday today inbetween showers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like the boiling water trick works great! Just speculation on my part, but I'm guessing once the acrylic gets set it won't straighten out any more.
Saturday garage pipes - Saturday morning, Newminister Superior Round in a Briary billiard; Saturday afternoon, still working in garage, CH in MM Legend. Gunner walked up and stuck his head through the spindles just as I snapped picture. Gunner was a trooper, stuck with me all day Saturday working in the garage. Sunday afternoon pipe, AJ's VaPer in Chacom tall billiard. Sorry for pictures being a little dark, it was either in the shade under deck roof, or washed out in direct sunlight.

I think it's the same shape too. And I don't see tooth marks, and the metal band looks a lot cleaner.
My dad bought this pipe the day I was born in 1963. The stem sits tight , but crooked at about 1 O'Clock I don't smoke but would love for it to be repaired. I remember he used to have it sit in a stand that looked like a chair. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Great looking piece of family history, so don't take this dump question the wrong way. Have you tried to just twist the stem back to the 12 o'clock position? And if you could take a pic or two of how the stem is attached to the pipe it could help some of these guys point you in the right direction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
