    June Focus Day 5:

    Frank Shaving Pur-Tech Brush
    Stirling Cool SS
    Injector Type J
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman Vanilla AS

Another gym shave this morning, and another good one with the Type J. I am heading to San Antonio for some meetings for the next couple of days, so this will be a similar set up for me over that period. I hope everyone has a great day.

    Soap - MWF

Happy Monday everyone!!! I know, I know, it's really Monday to most of you so I'll try and keep it down. And not mention it's my weekend. Promise.

Decided to have a little fun today and repeat my head shave of two weeks ago with the pain stick. @Mr. Freeze93 made that challenge and I passed with flying colors. Can I do it again? This is the same blade I used two weeks ago and today will be its 7th day in the razor. With the original head shave that's more like 8, probably, but we'll see. Lather for the head shave, as always, is brought to you today by the VDH Boar brush and Deluxe soap!

Right off the bat I thought I might be in trouble. Quite a bit of tug but, with a week's growth maybe it's not all that bad. I added some lather and slicked it up good and it seemed to be ok. Certainly not as smooth as two weeks ago but again, lots of uses. I managed to knock it all down to cue ball status and hit the shower. No nicks or cuts, but more tugging than I would have liked. Still, it made it. And AGAIN no mortal damage.
Regular shave after the shower and I whipped up a great Fat lather. For those of you struggling with the Fat I will add two cents here. Warm water, not hot. Soak the puck well before using. Fairly dry brush. Too much water in the brush up front can kill it. And.....turn the puck upside down and load the brush. That allows the soap to get deeper into the brush and gives you plenty to work with.

First stroke with the Greager/Dorco and I know it immediately. The Dorco has become the Dorgone!! It's dead. Immediate tug, yank and I probably avoided a nick from a skipping blade by a razor's edge. I added a bit of water locally to that spot and tried again with a slicker lather. Nope. Not gonna happen. It may have survived the head shave but it died soon after. So, I grabbed my rescue razor, which at the time is the EJ89l with Bic CP blade, and finished this one off in two passes. Nice DFS. Good enough for a day off and I'm happy. Looks like I'll be loading a new blade for the last day of the Greager tomorrow. I'm thinking Kai Mild that I will just transfer to the Feather SS on Wednesday.

I am fairly impressed with the Dorco blade. It did survive 6 days, including one head shave to start, and gave me great shaves throughout. But, when this blade is done it doesn't leave a note, say good bye, or thank you for the memories. It just vanishes.

I appreciate the MWF tips, but my problem isn't making lather, I can make enough to fill a kiddie pool. My problem is I can't make it slick. I've tried making it wetter, I tried to make it dryer, warm water, cool water, badger, boar, horse, synthetic, left handed, right handed, drunk and sober and it's just not slick enough and it makes my face sticky. I'm beginning to think it's just my body chemistry.

To really experience the slickness, you have to try it drunk with a straight razor. Be sure to report back on your results.

    Injector/SE Focus month 2

    Cold water 3.gif

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel splash, Osage Rub, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG

Really nice shave with the G1 today! 48+ hours of beard growth were mowed down in two efficient passes. I probably could have done one pass with touch-up like normal but decided to go with two full passes. The Chick blade is smooth, smooth. I love the maneuverability of the G1 and its consistent performance.

Proraso Green was a great choice for today. I really like that soap and the other Proraso formulations. They're also consistent. Good lathering and nice performance. I furthered the menthol kick with a good does of Osage Rub. It feels good as it's cooling down. My hands are pretty cold too, even after washing them off!

All in all a really nice shave. Hope you all are having a great Monday!

I got my straight razor back today and Glen did an amazing job from what I saw, mind you this is my first straight and don't really know what to look at, LOL. Soon I will put steel to flesh and see how it shaves, but not tonight. LOL

Then we have the same body chemistry. I have exactly the same experience with MWF. I decided to do a thirty day focus on this soap and it looks like the first focus I might regret. YMMV certainly applies with this stuff!
I've only tried sober. Maybe that's why some of you do better with it

Would the fact the cartel mixes vodka in instead of water have anything to do with it? Hmmmmmmm.....:signs002:
