Decided to use one of these vintage Gem blades tomorrow.

Initially thought these were made in the U.S. but with expanded photo noticed these are made in Britain. Edge appears clean but will strop to make sure.

I think I may have turned the corner on shaving with a wedge SE. This was the first shave I've had where all three passes were smooth and easy. :happy036:

Reduction after the first pass was the best yet and this was the closest shave I've gotten with the Heljestrand - mostly BBS with a few DFS spots on the neck. While some of the improvement is certainly technique I think learning proper blade maintenance is a very large factor. I've cut down the laps when stropping and also remounted my strop to make it easy to make a lighter draw. I also refreshed the blades on my lapping film at 1 micron and .3 micron which was far more effective than the .3 and .1 refresh I was doing on a balsa strop with paste. :)

Shaving with the wedge SEs requires learning and effort before they come into their own but it has it's own unique rewards. :happy088:

If the Edge is Good Condition Stropping on Leather should Do it..These Blades are Not that Old..They usually came with Later Gem Streamline Sets..:angelic007:

    Cold water 3.gif

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Semogue 1520 boar
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel splash, Osage Rub, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG

Really nice shave with the G1 today! 48+ hours of beard growth were mowed down in two efficient passes. I probably could have done one pass with touch-up like normal but decided to go with two full passes. The Chick blade is smooth, smooth. I love the maneuverability of the G1 and its consistent performance.

Proraso Green was a great choice for today. I really like that soap and the other Proraso formulations. They're also consistent. Good lathering and nice performance. I furthered the menthol kick with a good does of Osage Rub. It feels good as it's cooling down. My hands are pretty cold too, even after washing them off!

All in all a really nice shave. Hope you all are having a great Monday!
