Hello all! Been wetshaving for a little over 2 months, and LOVE it! My face feels better, my wife loves the different scents and the smooooooother skin. Currently lathering with an EJ Best Badger, using a Merkur Long Classic going through the sample pack from WestCoastShaving, using Proraso pre shave, and a bevy of soaps and creams including Mama Bear's Rosemary Mint, QED's Tangerine & Spearmint, SCS's Bay Rum with a Twist, Pirate Cove's Menthol, Nancy Boy's Signature Cream and a host of others though I've yet to try TABAC :shocked003 Taylor's :shocked003 Spieck :shocked003. Hoping to learn from the members, and be helpful in my own "newbian" sort of way. Cheers!
Good Lord. I was about to say we have another insomniac on board when I looked at your location. :happy102 Anyway, welcome to The Shave Den! You have a good array of products right from the start! Next we'll get you into straights!!
Oh yes...nice indeed when there isn't some international incident caused by the dumb actions of someone in our military community . Infrequent, but high profile nontheless. Thank you all for the warm welcomes!
Hi there, and welcome to this place, I'm a member of numerous shaving forums, and each place has their own feel to em. The site owners are the ones to set the tone, and JoAnna has done just that. She, along with the very helpful mods, have made TSD a nice place to spend some time. Hopefully, you'll feel right at home here in a very short while. Something no one here knows about me: I have a natural affinity towards Orientals ( I believe 'Asians' is the proper word now). Hehe, no idea why that is, but it's just how I'm wired. I just like those races in general. It's something I'd never mentioned to my wife or kids.......until my son developed the same feelings in his early teens. Surprised the heck out of me that he'd show a similar trait, and he took that to a whole other level. One of his college majors was 'Japanese', and he studied in that country for a year. He also joined the Jet program after graduating, and spent two years living in Daziafu in the late 90's, which he loved. He's now living in Tokyo, and is married to a very nice Japanese woman. Funny how that worked out. Anyway, good luck here at TSD, and I hope you enjoy the friendly atmosphere provided. Martin
Ummm.....you do know I don't own TSD, don't ya Martin? I definitely have strong feelings and ties to TSD, but I don't own it. Technically, the owner is sparky5693. But I'm glad you enjoy it here, and hope everyone does.
Hi Boss, Oh........maybe I missed that part about who owns what......hehe. My apologies to sparky for my confusion ( happens a lot....sheesh!) Thanks for the gentle correction. Martin
So do you have to order most of your stuff from other countries? How much is actually available as far as wet-shaving goes in Japan? I've tried to look into this but I've only seen a few articles and posts on it on different boards, and from what I can tell there isn't much. Some of the guys weren't even using water! Apparently the male grooming industry is just starting to get off its feet although it also shows the same growing trends it does everywhere else in the world. I'd be interested to see what kind of skincare products and soaps are available too. I ran across this stuff at the Bath and Body Works site and I'm quite intrigued: http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2196608&cp=2073258 If you could give me a basic rundown of the things you know to be available I'd be forever in your debt. Anything special or worth importing? I just know of Feather razor blades and they're amazing, there's also some things at Classic Shaving also made by Feather that look pretty interesting to me (http://www.classicshaving.com/page/page/522960.htm just scroll down a bit and you'll see it).
