I'm loving the shaves! I've given them a good run over the last fortnight. I'm fast becoming a more dedicated SE user

I also thought gem jr however The only other ones in plastic I have seen were military sets but I would imagine they would be Bakelite as a opposed to plastic? I can only assume this one would be 40's

I hate to be the wet blanket here, but I don't think that we can rule out the possibility that it may simply be a mismatched set - a frankenrazor.

That thought had also crossed my mind. I'll continue troll the Internet for answers, I don't think is is a mismatch, but I have often been wrong ;).. If I find any kind if definitive answer I'll be sure to let you all know:eatdrink047:

Shower- Noxzema facial cleaner, Dr. Bronner's All-One Hemp Citrus bar soap
    Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored
    Razor- The Bunny
    Blade- Schick (1)
    Soap- Route 66 Barbershop Hop
Post Care- Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb
    Nivea Sensitive AS balm

Wow! What a fantastic shave! This was my first ever injector shave and the Bunny left me dolphin smooth. I used the Mild comb and three passes and I don't know if I've ever had a closer shave. The Route 66 as usual offered up a wonderful, slick and protective lather and The Bunny mowed through two days of growth like it was nothing. The only bad part was one small weeper on the corner of my mouth but if I have a problem, it usually shows up there. I love this razor and I'm looking forward to more shaves with it. Have a great day folks!

Good morning friends. What a wonderful three pass shave this morning to end this work week. The N1 is a must have for injector fans, very smooth and exacting, works great under the chin. This new to me JabonMan soap which I purchased from Adam aka @Drygulch is a dream, it smells wonderfully citrusy and zesty while providing effortless protective lather. Have a great weekend guys. :happy069:

Focusing on my Schick Type L (L1 and L7) this month using a variety of blades.

    06-10-16.JPG

    One-day growth, one-pass shave - ATG
Near perfect shave again with this combo with just one pass!
Fourth shave with the NOS Dutch Schick. Better than the Chinese Schick last week. With a razor that’s considered “mild” by many, the shaves with the Dutch appear to bolster the theory of using a sharp blade in a mild razor.

Next week I’ll go further down the sharpness path and try a FergieFeather (a cut-to-fit AC Feather Pro blade).

Spoiler Alert - I’m saving a NOS Schick Twin blade for my final week of trials.

    Cheers!

Now that squarely hits a point that I have pondered from time to time. :think002:

I've had BBS shaves with DEs and Injectors. Soon I will focus on some SEs (GEMs, EverReady) and hope to get to the same point with them. :kar:

For awhile I've been thinking that I like Injectors more than DEs (at this point in time) because they seem so much easier to get BBS shaves with. Lately I started to question whether injectors allow less experienced/technical shavers to get better shaves more quickly than DEs. I even went back to my favorite Gillette New LC just to see if the shaves I was getting with it compared to the BBS injectors. I was almost shocked to then experience what I thought was my best shave ever with the LC and one as good as any I've had with any injector. (Hmm, sounds like a good month-long focus in the future: my New LC vs my favorite Injector.)

I'd like to think that the commitment I made to technical focus in this first year of wet-shaving has helped with quickly getting to BBS with injectors, but I also think that starting off my "wet-shaving" experience with DEs makes it seem like it took longer to get to BBS with them because of the base learning curve to wet-shaving after a lifetime of carts.

Would my initial learning curve to BBS been quicker if I had started with injectors? Would starting with injectors reduce the time it took for me to get to BBS with DEs?

So technique-wise I was wondering if those of you who successfully used both DEs, injectors and SEs (GEMs, EverReady) would say that injectors are the easiest path to BBS?
Or maybe the point, and specific question, should be:

Having achieved BBS shaves with a variety of razors - which one of these three razor types - DE, injector or SE (GEMs, EverReady) - would you recommend for a beginning shaver?

Having said all that, I'll be the first to admit that this question is focused just on the end result - a BBS. I do realize that for many of us, the path to BBS can be even more enjoyable than the end result, as we experience the handling and face-feel of each stroke during the shave.

    Cheers! :eatdrink047:

Caveat - this post may ruffle some feathers a bit, but I mean no disrespect to anyone's favorite type of razor. And I didn't include straights in the conversation because I've never used one and alas, never will. (In my senior years I've developed a hereditary nerve disorder that makes my hands shake a bit too much to use straights.)

A great late shave today. I can get away with a late shave as I'm unemployed. The injector wiped away the whiskers along with the lather with ease. Have a blessed day gentlemen.

    Today's Shave: Friday June 10, 2016

    Above The Tie Bamboo SE1
Feather AC Professional Super blade (1)
    Whipped Dog 22mm synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber soap and aftershave

Today I took the SE1 for a test drive with the Feather Pro Super blade. Like the Mongoose the SE1 has no blade stops, so the wider thicker Super blade fits with no issues.

I have to say that the SE1 tames the Pro Super blade better than . . . just about anything. In the Mongoose this blade produced a wicked close shave, but the slightest lapse in focus usually resulted in weepers, irritation or worse.

In the SE1 this blade doesn't feel a whole lot different from the Pro blade, super smooth and silky - a bit more blade feel; that's about it.

The end result was a smooth, irritation and weeper free BBS shave that was just slightly closer than the last few days shaves with the Pro blade - and I had been uncertain if that was even possible!
