    Another quick update:

No shave today either, 28 hours of stuff to do in a 24 hour day. Hitting three day growth with the WD 5/8 just for kicks tomorrow night! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

    Yesterday recap;

TBS synthetic brush/ RazoRock Son of Zeus
    '59 Gillette 195 @5 / Astra SP #?
    Alum & OldSpice

I was in a hurry to shave Wednesday as my father only had an 11 mile ride to pick me up. The Ford has been acting up just like a 30 year old will do. Replaced my battery on the exact 2 years anniversary/ warranty expiration day. Then swapped in a new starter solenoid and tested the alternator.
The shave was uneventful - a FatBoy standard DFS with no errors. Enjoying the RazoRock in a rush worked out fine. ;)

    This evening's report;

    Same brush & soap
Simmons The King 6/8 HH Spike
    Avon WildCountry AS

    SOTD 06162016.gif

Thirty six hours later, I could relax and enjoy me time. Same soap & brush but juiced it up for a straight shave. Twenty strokes on both sides of the Drygultch #43 strop followed by WTG & ATG. Cleaned up with XTG action on a Schick type J & Chick blade. After a cool water rinse the alum was quiet. AS was pleasantly smooth with no need for a post shave moisturizer.
Hoping my truck starts in the morning, but that's the trade off running an antique. No payments & low insurance rates with occasional bouts of maintenance and repair. The alternator tested defective at one shop & good at another. Not the older type with nuts to hold on the wires, this is the later with plug in wires known to be iffy.

2 pass shave 3 day growth. DFS. pretty good for less than 2 hours of sleep. Bed is the hardest part of this split. Nust as my mind is starting to shut down and just as it starts to wake up I reach over to check on someone who isn't there anymore. Makes it hard to sleep. I'll make it. A few more days to get through the worst of it and a few weeks to adjust to the rest.

Brush: Tres Amigos Desert Ironwood Honey Comb w/Envy White
    Soap: Route 66 Twisted Tweed
    A/S: Folsom & Co. Shambala

Fine way to prepare for an laid back evening with a near BBS shave. I'm very impress with the new Route 66 Twisted Tweed soap. This soap is a twist on the classic, unforgettable Green Irish Tweed fragrance. This crisp, fresh, sporty fougere opens with green citrus, bergamot, wild lavender and lemony verbena over a rich heart of geranium, fern and violet. Anchored with spicy, wood accords of cedar, musk, amber, frankincense and Mysore sandalwood. Twisted Tweed has a long lasting, slick lather protective cushion and glide soothing post shave conditioning.
Turns out that there is a Father's Day sale on Route 66 products.
    Check it out.

    June Focus Day 16:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    La Toja Shave Stick
    Rolls Razor
    Stirling Unscented PSB
Supply Provision Co Post Shave Tonic

I didn't get a pic this morning, but I did get a great shave. That is three good shaves in a row from this Rolls Razor, and I am officially ready to say I should have tried one sooner. It is a bit odd in that it has the feel of a straight but with technique like a safety razor. I am definitely not as quick with it as a safety razor, but that is fine. I also tried this new to me after shave. It isn't alcohol based, but my face feels very nice and the scent is pleasant. It is a very light scent with some juniper and lavender. I am off to tackle this Friday and finish up the week. I hooe everyone has a great day.

Soap: Barrister & Mann Lime, Lavender & Cedarwood

    Post: Cold water, alum, Thayers'
Aftershave: Stephan's Island Lime with M-bomb
    image.jpeg
Still working my way through my newest batch of acquisitions. They were all honed, but haven't been cleaned up yet. Polishing a blade will typically ruin the edge, so I am using them all before I start cleaning them. This is my second Green Lizard. This one appears to be in good shape, even if it is a little on the small side. I am looking forward to getting it cleaned up. Used my Soap Eating Monster (SEM) brush and a soap I can see the bottom of. Have another soap inbound, so want to get this used up. Was halfway through the second pass when I realized I was doing N to S, (WTG) again, so finished that pass and did my ATG pass. Face felt good, no touch up needed. I got a very nice DFS. No burn on the alum. Stephan's with a heavy dose of M-bomb was the perfect finish. I think I am to the point where I would rather have a few rough spots on my neck and a nice DFS with no irritation than a BBS with a lot of irritation.

Happy Friday! Shave is in, report tonight. Looks like another hot day on the river so I did use the Veg as a body splash again today. This kind of heat in June means one of two things in STL. Either a brutal dry, nasty summer or a very mild and wet August is in our future. Gotta love the weather around here. Hope you all have a great day!

Focusing on my Schick Type L (L1 and L7) this month using a variety of blades.

Four shaves with the L and the Fergiefeather gave great shaves and are currently my favorite. One more blade contender.

I’ve waited six months to try the NOS Twin blade in a Schick razor, as I’ve marched through an alphabetic focus on each of my Schick injector blades. I’m finally at the point in the alphabet where I have razors that they will fit in.

    06-17-16.JPG

    1-day growth, 2-pass shave - XTG, ATG

Wonderfully smooth shave. My initial reaction is that the closeness is just on par with the Feather, however the handling and smoothness appears to be better with the Twin. I was on edge a bit as I shaved my problem area (chin) with the Feather, not so much with th Twin.

A few more shaves with it will allow a final assessment.

    Cheers!

Good evening friends. First shave with the New SC and it was fabulous. I really like more aggressive razors and am really loving open combs. Although you can feel the blade pretty well, riding the cap made it smooth as butter! 3 passes and I welcomed the baby home. Have a great weekend everyone!

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

I have the long comb and love it. The New seem to be nice aggressive razors that don't really want to bite like the Old Style do. My 1918 can be a beast but the New LC is just nice. Something tells me that Rapira was a great match for it too. Well, obviously, you brought home the baby!

    Jolly Good June!

    June 17

    Razor - Gold Dollar 800

    Soap - Proraso Green
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Another day with the GD800 and I'm liking it more every day. That's probably because, well you know, learning technique and all that. No issues this morning. I still find it a bit awkward to switch to the left on XTG, but that will come with repetition. Stropping is probably my main challenge. I have to concentrate on that to avoid rolling the edge but it's speeding up. Again, practice, practice, practice. My problem is I get bored and start looking at other razors. You know, that whole SQUIRREL problem.

Hope you had a great Friday and have some fun this weekend!

IMHO, stropping is harder than shaving, very awkward at first. Good to see some reports on Gold Dollar products.

    Whipped Dog 5/8
    Arko!!!
    L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    Alum
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal
It's so hot on the prairie that I saw two bushes fighting over a dog...

Two passes cut down three days of growth like mowing the lawn. Can't clog a straight! I really like this blade too, the slight smile, a little scything action, two spine width angle leaves me BBS and irritation free. Arko did it's usual wonderful job, slick and wet lather, perfect for a straight shave. Alum was silent, and the Veg thanked me for being a Samurai of impeccable taste! Planning a lazy weekend of nothing, followed by another busy week. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great weekend!
    :)
