SE razors are quite effective and efficient. They don't get the love they probably deserve from a lot of people but I have always had a great result the few times I've loaded them up.
I'm seeing not only the possibility of severe lacerations, but lacerations full of splinters as well. This could be epic.
I have some Super Pro's lying around here somewhere that I want to try out.... I heard they are like a regular Pro but on steroids. Hoping it is my technique as like I said, I normally almost kill myself the first 1-3 shaves after getting comfortable and cocky. Guess we have a while to find out which one it is. I am hoping to have a great weekend and so far it has been good. Brought my son out with me for his first time fishing and he and I had a blast. He caught 4 sunfish and was over the moon about it.
The first fish is always the best one when they're little. I remember my sons catching their first. You'd have thought it was Moby Dick they had conquered. LOL Super Pro's.....yeah, pretty good description. More blade exposure and you really feel like you're on the edge of something. Hopefully a great shave and not something else!
On Popsicle Stick Shavettes: TSD, Bama Samurai, and the Cartel Safety Committee® does not condone the usage of shave equipment outside of its intended purpose and usage. God even thinks it's a bad idea. Anyone who makes a Popsicle stick shavette does so of their own accord. It is, at best, an extremely dangerous and difficult thing to pull off. At worst, you'll be on the receiving end of a fun talk by a plastic surgeon about what being a knucklehead means. (Giggles, walks away eating Popsicle)
July Leopard Blade Trials Back for July, with a Leopard in tow, and will simply be running different blade brands. I feel like that 90% of them will be just fine in a shavette. First of all, let's toss our blade notions. A shavette is nothing like a DE razor, though it uses DE blades. My test is all about the edge. People use DE blades in many different configurations. These all affect performance. A shavette uses a half DE blade, no flex, no tension, and completely rigid. All of my blade preferences are wiped clean for this test, because I've never used the blades this way before. All shaves are cold water, two passes, looking for the automatic DFS. Drug store product stuff this month for scientific consistency. I will be keeping a shavette blade log soon (on another thread for brevity), and Voskhod, Derby, and ASCO Orange SS have all made the cut. ASCO and Voskhod lead the way so far. 1 July 2016 Leopard Blade Trial - Wilkinson Sword (Germany) Combined report days 1-2 I will start of by saying that I've had my two worst days since starting SR style shaving with this blade. It's rough in a shavette. And crazy sharp. I've caught my skin three times in two days. It's almost as if this bevel tends to grab and bite. I was hoping it would be like Feather and smooth out today, and while it may have a bit, I am not happy with the performance. This blade is going to be rated a fail. It's too rough and unforgiving compared to SR, and is temperamental with regard to attack angle, making it prone to bite in shavette configuration. Four hours after the shave, I am pretty smooth, but the jawline and neck are a little warm. Glad to see everyone back. Have a Happy Holiday weekend! And remember, be good...or be good at it. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a super Saturday!
I'll be keeping tabs on you this month to add your data to mine when the time comes. It could be very interesting to see how different the blades are when used in a shavette versus a DE razor. Interesting that the Wilkinson has given you problems as it has (in the past at least) been a great blade in the limited trials I've given it. Like you said.....totally different system creates different performance.
Oh good! You found the picture of Ivan's Mom when she found out he was part of the cartel. She insisted he take his dad's razor with him when he came to the Moscow Western Office of the Cartel here on the banks of the lovely Mississippi.
If for any reason, Miss Moscow is unable to fulfill her duties, she will be replaced by the first runner up.
That's a model 247365, it multitasks as toenail clipper and back scratcher. Vintage equipment is where it's at, y'all!
Self-respect after the date......requires several bottles of the finest potato vodka you can find. Or the worst. Doesn't matter. Just need lots.
