Went back to basics today. As I had not shaved with my PAL Adjustable for months, I used it Wed. I got a CCS but nothing like it should give. So today I gave it the once over and all seems well. I gave it a real good cleaning infall the nooks and crannies. I loaded a new blade and had to set it to the stops. the blade was about 1mm from seating. No big deal. I checked my setting and decided to move it up to the center setting. I had ben using the next to lowest. I chose my Haslinger soap and Boar brush. As these 2 give me my best results of anything I have. The Haslinger is super slick. As I face lather I whip the brush around for 10 seconds and it is loaded enough for 3 passes. As I did not shave last night I had 2 full days growth. I started my first pass and found the angle right off the bat. I had that very nice and quiet feedback. I finished the first pass and checked the reduction. YES that is the pass I was expecting Wednesday. lathered up for pass 2 XTG same results very good reduction all over. so I lathered for my final pass and went ATG using buffing strokes all over. I finished with a very nice BBS allover. Sitting here typing this I checked again. It is one of those shaves that seem even closer Half an hour after you are done. This shave will last me until Sunday morning for sure. I believe my problem with the previous shave may have ben contributed to several factors. First and foremost I think I had one too many shaves on that blade. As I d not write the shaves down I fear I went one too many. I get 5 good shaves from Chicks no matter what razor. Secondly I may have not had it dialed up quite enough. The blade did not move at all so I think I am good. So is this PAL Tom
Roby I knew that something was wrong with my setup last time. I never had that shave with it before. i just had to start from page 1 again. It all worked out great this time. Tom
Tom..I Don't Get as Many Shaves out of a PAL Injector as I get from some Others...On the Subject of the Comb..The Blade is Not Designed to Sit in the Stops Unless its On the Highest Setting...The Comb is Moving Back & Forth to Adjust it on the Horizontal Plane..The Blade is Static of Course.. Billy..
Tonight was my first ever injector shave: I was really kind of stoked, but ended up hugely disappointed with the performance of this razor, because of how mild it is. Took a lot of passes to get to even DFS, and an hour or so later, my neck is telling me I probably starting using pressure like a newb. It isn't like with that head geometry there are a lot of angle possibilities.... Will give it some time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
What setting did you have it at? Also was there a blade already loaded when you put in the new one? If not, it's likely the blade ran across the stops and blunted it.
It isn't like with that head geometry there are a lot of angle possibilities.. That's a Problem Right there..There is a Sweet Spot with an Injector...Just Put it Flat Against the Face & Drop the Handle Till it Cuts..Nothing More than that...Job Done..Don't Farfe around with Angles.. As @Karl G Said..There is also the Possibility that You have Ran a Blade Across the Stops & Blunted it...These are Smooth & Efficient Shavers.. Billy..
That's what I meant about the angle: there kinda is only one. It was cutting or not cutting, so I don't think it was me. Worded that poorly, maybe. There was no blade in it when I got it. The blade went in as smooth as silk. Smoother than I expected. As far as setting goes, I tried it from three to maxed, and I couldn't really tell a difference. I would have instantly just thought "broken", if the thing wasn't so minty. I will get a feeler gauge out tomorrow and see. Thanks, guys.
It can Appear that a Blade goes in as Smooth as Silk..When a Razor is Empty You should Load another as they are Not Designed to be Loaded Empty..I would Load another & Try it again..This is so Common..Something isn't Right.. Billy..
Sat. 7/2/16 Sublime shave this morning with my PAL Injecto-Matic razor. Haslinger is my favorite hands down. Three easy passes and I'm dolphin smooth and refreshed. Have a great holiday weekend friends.
SOTD July 2, 2016 Blade: GEM Stainless Razor: GEM Pushbutton Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic Lather: Jeeves of Hudson Street 'Velvet Jacket' Post: Witch hazel splash, Stetson Caliber balm WTG, touch-up Inaugural shave with a GEM Pushbutton that my friend Andrew (@Linuxguile) graciously sent my way. Nice shave! The Pushbutton glided through 48 hours of growth with no issues. I went with one WTG pass followed by touch-up on the neck and jaw. No irritation and no nicks or weepers. Good shave. First use of Jeeves of Hudson Street Velvet Jacket. The lather was a shade too wet. I'll have to play with it some more. But it had good slickness and scent. The post-shave feel was middle of the road for me. I hope you all have a great day and a terrific July 4th holiday!
I'm very happy it's a winner for you Perry, it's a fun shaver and I especially like the handle. Excellent grip.
