I am truly sorry to hear about your awful shave with that blade, but your post had me rolling in the floor laughing so hard I was in tears. ROFLMAO
Definitely nice to meet you and see some new faces! You landed in the right place to learn and improve with technique. The guys in here are great as long as you remember to mostly do what they say and not what they do. I'm looking at you @NCoxSTL
What?! Huh?! I saw nothing......did nothing....know nothing about it. Nor do I have any info on the popsicle shave I've heard rumored. Nope, no Voskhod stapled between two sticks in my top den drawer. Move along!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Thank you for not tagging me, although I did enjoy the read. I'm not saying do it this week since you need to heal up and be ready for Tuesday's shave. But... Two thoughts. Mentholated soap is awesome, and I notice you have been using a lot of it recently. Its something I don't use much anymore though. As you get more shaves in with the pain sticks and straights, you will notice that the razors have a tendency to bark before they bite. Usually there is a slight sting before the blade fillets part of your face. If you are aware of this, you can back off with minimal damage, maybe just a red line on the skin, instead of a bloody one through the skin. Mentholated soaps like Sterling Glacials tend to numb your face to the point where you can't feel the bark. My worst straight razor cut was on a day I used a glacial peppermint soap. I didn't feel the bark and plowed right on through a few layers of skin for a 2 inch long cut that probably needed stitches. So you might consider doing some shaves without mentholated soap. If When you cut yourself you will notice the slight sting before the cut. If When you cut your self a few more times, you might be able to back off and avoid the blood. It took me a couple of weeks. Then once your pretty little mug is all healed up, try one of those blades again. You still probably won't like it as much as the Kai blades, but I bet you can get a better shave out of it. Go ahead, I dare you...
That's really good advice and while it is sad I am thinking of PIFing or using up and not reordering my mentholated soaps (I will still use frigid aftershaves) but as I delve further into SE shaving weather it is my Goose, Pain Stick, and money granted soon hopefully straights that while I love the menthol bombardment you are right that it numbs the face and doesn't offer much warning if I am doing something wrong. I will revisit this blade eventually but I am a man of my word and need to have a custom made steak thong and then go have a talk with a few gators....
I do understand and am now getting almost BBS shaves to BBS shave because of the guys in here almost daily with little to no irritation! Umm, the one you posted on here? LOL
No, they are soaked in Osage rub and then sun dried. They are part of the Snowball line by @Drygulch.
I am sure if I posted a picture of me in a thong I would be instantly perm banned and have the authorities called on me... not to mention make all of you deathly ill...
And just think about all the baby blue dresses and beef jerky thongs @Mr. Freeze93 could buy with his mind of money.
