It's Sunday! Hope your weekend is going great and you have lots of fun today and tomorrow. I'll be slinging springs both days and am off for today's adventure. Another great shave that I'll post up later. I think I'm going to try to stay on this setup (and the same blade) until the Slim arrives. See how many of these high quality shaves this blade will deliver! Raining again in the Lou. Could be worse. They said up to 8 inches this weekend, so far we're not headed there. And, the city looks so peaceful when it's all damp and rainy. You can barely here the gunshots as they are muffled in the mist. Have a great day!
I saw something on another forum I was looking at and would like to propose it here for us. A patriotic Independence Day shave, to qualify for it you have to use american made products only or as much as possible. So an american razor, blade (modern or vintage), Brush, soap, aftershave. anything made in the CONUS basically modern or vintage. The date for this is Monday July 4th 2016, lets see how much participation we can get on this! Are you Red, White and Blue enough to try this, and yes this is a challenge to all my friends in here!
Good to hear about the weather there. My mother and a van load of her church friends are at St.Louis attending a meeting of The Order of Saint Francis of Assisi. Mom's is in her mid 70's and has her conceal/carry permit. When her lady friends heard she was going to be packing heat, they objected. Dad & I suggested next time to keep her carrying well concealed. I'm concerned about the "soft target" nature of the gathering. One responsible armed individual could make the difference in a terrorist situation. YOMV
Well the biggest risk here is the shooting gallery that is North City and sometimes North County. As long as they are meeting somewhere else (and I'm sure they are) she shouldn't have to worry. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
July Focus Day 3: Stirling Synthetic Brush TSD Lanolin Egyptian Spice Shaheen & Brothers Razor Stirling Unscented PSB Avon Spicey AS My first shave with this razor, which I just got in the mail this week. It was pretty smooth, and quite a departure from the wedges I used last month. I got an easy DFS on one pass with some clean up. I finished with some Avon Spicey, which is a bit different than the current version of Old Spice; I don't know how it compares to vintage Old Spice. It is nice scent, and is family approve. It was a great start to my Sunday. I hope everyone has a great day!
SOTD July 3rd Took a little detour from my blade trial to give the PAL adjustable a spin. Like my other injectors it offered a smooth easy comfortable shave. The angle is a little different but wow what an easy 2 pass BBS. No sting what so ever from the alum. Fantastic shave! Have a great day everyone! Sent from my Galaxy S6 using Tapatalk
The strop you made for me works perfectly. I use it ever time I use my Valet. I still have have a few original blades.
Planned Shave for later - 3 July 2016 Thanks to @Douglas Carey , all Sundays are Shave Den Sundays on the prairie! Have a great afternoon!
In the Good Old Shavertime! July 3 Waiting for Mail Call!! Razor - '46-'47 Gillette Aristocrat Blade - (3) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum, The Veg Day three of my waiting shaves and the Aristocrat and Voskhod continue to perform perfectly. The Fat the the Wolf today for another exceptional lather. And, two passes to DFS, a bit of touchup and I'm going to call the baby again. Maybe not quite but so close I can't resist. I was in a bit of a hurry this morning so that was a great result. Still smooth, no signs of getting dull or having any other problems. Love this setup! I'll stay with this again tomorrow for the 4th and Tuesday again and as long as it takes for the right package to show up. Let's see how it performs over a bit of time (hopefully not too long). Hope you all had a great day today! The rain has stopped for now here, and we didn't get the 8" they said we'd get. Yet.
My Parent's got back today from a little vacation this weekend for their anniversary and brought me back something. A Gillette Khaki set the razor dating to 1918 according to the serial no. on the base plate. The case is pretty worn and dirty but the razor is in pretty good shape for it's age. The nickel on the handle is almost completely gone, just a spot here and there that tells me it was a nickle plated handle. The cap and base plate have almost all of there platting left and after cleaning and polishing it looks great. I guess they don't realize this is not helping my RAD one bit!
Here you go doubting Bama! LOL not enough, Ok hows this.... Still not enough, well here's one more! LOL your right I should have posted pics to begin with, I hope you enjoy this razor porn @Bama Samurai. ROFL I knew you were going to ask for some pics! LOL I might even dare to use it tomorrow for the 4th of July shave. My parents are great thinking about me and my love of vintage razors. My dad told me about some others he would have got me, but they were at a Flea Market and they didn't take credit cards.
That was one of the first razors I bought. The boxes tend to be a bit worn but the razors shave fine. Very aggressive! But great razors.
