Razor: Astra SP stapled/super glued to some corndog sticks Brush: Whipped Dog HM 30mm Lather: B&M Seville Post Shave Care: Thayers Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Well this was disappointing..... 2 passes (XTG, and ATG...cowards ) and I got a DFS...1 tiny nick on my jaw where I set the blade down wrong but other then that I got a decent shave.... wasn't the most comfortable shave by a long shot but somehow I made it work. Only downfall is while it was a DFS after I shaved I already look like I need to shave again (guess it wasn't that close) so stay tuned as I may shave with it again later. I guess Technique Trumps Tools is true. Sorry guys....
So far I am counting five shaves with sticks and staples, and three of them did ATG. I think this went better than expected...
If anyone was still on a NoBuy'16, I'm gonna vote that Popsicle sticks are a consumable product, and not even shaving related (under normal circumstances) so this doesn't violate their restrictions.
July 2016 Blade Focus July 3&4 Razor: Gillette SS, Lord L6 Blade: Voskhod Brush: VDH Boar Soap: Stirling MITA Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block I have two days worth of shaves to report this time, including my birthday shave on July 3. For my Birthday shave I used my 3rd quarter 1974 Gillette Super Speed razor. It was my first Ebay purchase and this was its first time being used on my birthday. I of course continued using the Voskhod blade and the other items from my first month here on the 30 Day Thread. The razor performed well. It has not been my favorite razor and requires me to use some techniques like J hooking around my Adam's apple to get it nice and clean. The Voskhod held up well and performed admirably. There was no shave on the 2nd, so it had 2 days growth to go through, but had no problem at all. I ended BBS as declared by my wife, who is the only tester that matters anyway. It was a great day with family, friends, and relaxation. Everything you could want in a birthday. Yesterday, I got to celebrate the birth of this wonderful nation as well as my new Father-in-law, a retired Marine Corps Colonel. I have tried convincing him to shave with a DE razor, but he insists on using his electric. I even got his father and my Mother-in-law's father to back me up as both still use DE razors. My MIL's father still uses the razor he bought in 1959 for $1.95, yep a Gillette fat boy. It is in incredible condition too. He has several other razors in his collection, but primarily shaves with the fat boy. I have offered to take the others off his hands (no idea what all he has, he just says several others) so we shall see. My shave yesterday was back with the Lord L6, again using the MITA and boar brush (oh how do I miss the Stirling or Maggard synthetics!!). The shave was not quite as smooth as the first two with the Voskhod. The blade seems to fade a little by its third use for me. It ended up near BBS, but not quite there. Overall a good couple of shaves. Below is a new to me re-purposed tobacco pipe rack that will serve as the new home to some of my razors. It was one of several shaving related gifts from the weekend that will appear in upcoming pictures. The Lord L6 on the left and my U3 Gillette SS on the right.
Happy Birthday a few days late! I also find that Voskhod blades get about 3 good days of use for me as well. Please tell your Father in Law Semper Fi, we have another marine in here Mr. Douglas Carey. My Grandfather and Father were both Marine's and I tried to join but got turned down on medical issues. So I went on to be a volunteer Fire Fighter for 4 1/2 years. LOL Do I see a nice Gillette Fatboy to the far left in that pic, I love mine as well.

I'm thinking Stunt Shaver may be over hyping his stunts. Of course with this bunch I'm thinking he's up against pros. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Thank you for your service as a first responder and for the belated birthday wishes. It is a Gillette Executive, basically a gold fat boy -- my best antique store find to date. The executive is by far my favorite razor.
I can't believe I won the Eddie! I mean, it's an honor just to be nominated, but I never thought I'd actually win! First I'd like to thank all the little people. And of course I couldn't have done it without all the foolish gullible nut jobs wonderful guys here on the 30 day focus thread... I'd like to thank my high school band director who always said, Son, you're never going to be one of the cool kids, so you might as well mess with them. I'd like to thank my dog, and my....... Oh wait, there's the music I have to go... Thanks everybody!
We consider you one of the cool kids. As long as you give us your lunch money. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Did I forget to mention I was also a fat kid. I'd rather take the beating than give up my lunch money.
New rule. If you instigate the shenanigans, (and it involves more than one person,) you participate. None of this leading the charge from behind stuff.
