What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

Beautiful razor!

 

Ouch! trying to get the feel for kami shaving technique with a shave-ready razor is challenging enough. Trying it with a 'tuggy' blade sound unpleasant! My kami was also supposedly 'shave-ready' upon arrival, but required several rounds on the hones to get it sharp & comfortable.

Honnig that razor looks challenging!

I did one without the fancy wrap today. Actually got a good shave from it.

 

Nothing wrong with the budget model.

Today's shave was a very nice close smooth shave. Had to stop and do a little damage control just after getting started. Seems that I had my razor back a little to far and on the first swipe of the first pass I caught the front of my ear had lots of blood running down the side of my face. But all and all it was a great shave. 3 pass shave finished smooth and refreshed.


Strop- Vintage broke in Pike Manufacturing Horse Shell Leather and Canvas.
Razor- Geo. Rodgers Sheffield Near Wedge.
Brush- Vintage Made Rite L1500 Pure Badger.
Lather- Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn Soap.
Post- OSMA alum block followed by Ogallala Genuine Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn Aftershave.

I'm smooth and refreshed have a great day everyone.

firs shave with the big filly.i fully understand why people raving about these straights.this was my best shave ever.

The blade is a little messed up on this razor but it will still shave with the best of them. I used my flea market hones and finished it on a white translucent Arkie. Excellent shave today. Have a good one.

 

New Jnat touch-up of the edge makes this lefty kami a real pleasure….so smoooooooth!

manage to hone the kamisori today.watched gssixgun`s kamisori honing videos and did the job.very pleased with the result.cutting hht with ease along the whole edge.happy days so will try a shave again tomorrow. gssixgun`s honing videos have actual learned me everything i know about honing,so a big thanks to him.
