You are already in trouble over razors, right? Go big or go home. These run $400-500 bucks. Go ahead, I dare you!

I'd probably stutter step from the near attack, but once I recovered I'd have Ivan, Yuri and Boris on the way to "correct" their thinking.

Good afternoon friends. I had my first shave with the Le Coq razor this morning and I've got to tell you this this the most aggressive razor that I have ever used. I'm not really sure what function the comb has because if there was ever a time that the comb was touching your face the blade would be at such an angle that all it would be doing was scraping your skin off. That being said I had to really focus on riding the cap and not letting the angle slip. I'm fairly certain this was equal to a DEvette shave. I'm very thankful that I had the super slick Stirling lather there protecting my skin. After 3 passes I was BBS and even 6 hours later still just as smooth. The alum was a little warm in a couple of spots but over ask a very excellent shave. I don't think this razor will come up too often in rotation because it requires you to really pay attention. And if so maybe not use a blade that's as sharp as the Wilkinson.

Have a great day my friends!

    Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored
Razor- Clauss Fremont, O. U.S.A. SR, PAL InjectoMatic
    Blade- Schick (2)
    Soap- Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb
    Osage Rub

My second attempt at a straight razor and I didn't bleed so we're calling it successful. I made the wonderful Route 66 lather a little thin and lathered my right side. I had a couple days growth and I had a hard time getting the razor to cut smoothly. I did my cheek and then lathered my left side. Using my left hand, which worked better than with a DE, I started and had the same problem, it just wasn't cutting good. I stopped, did a full lather and let my PAL eat. It devoured my beard in no time flat. I then lathered my right side again and tried the straight. This pass went much better, no pulling or tugging and I did my cheek and neck. I then lathered my left side and using my left hand again I completed my left cheek and neck. I then used the PAL for my chin and upper lip. My third pass was ATG with the PAL and I finished BBS smooth with almost zero feedback from the alum. Splashed on some Thayers and finished with the Osage Rub for a successful shave. Have a great day folks!

With a straight, sometimes it is definitely better to punt than force it. For a second shave, that still isn't bad. How firmly are you holding the razor?

I honestly don't know. I'm going extremely slow and if I had to guess I'm holding it lightly.

Be sure you are stretching your skin too. This makes a huge difference. If you can't get it to cut the next time you try, you might need the edge tuned up.

Koraat razor. Two pass and BBS. I may be selling ofF some razors to get one of these, it was one of my best shaves ever. This thing is a beast, wider than my 3 inch strop, and very heavy near wedge.

If sharp, should it cut the same for the first pass as it does for the third. It had zero problems with the second pass and you are absolutely correct about the skin stretching. It made a world of difference.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Dark Side :signs136:. There is a lot to learn and practice to be able to shave good with a SR. I'm planning on dedicating 1 day to straight's a week, probably Sunday. One thing I do even if I only do a partial shave with my straight is to strop it after it is dry, and then put a light coat of oil on it till next time. You have to learn skin stretching and how to do it properly so the skin is flat and tight where you are shaving. How to make a proper lather for SR shaving, it's more wet than many people think even more than shaving with Single edge razor. I'm sure my fellow SR shavers will agree or correct me on my statements in here.

Well done for a second shave. You did the right thing and put down the straight when it did not feel right. Training for the Darkside take some time, don't worry you'll be a full-fledged Sith Lord soon enough.

    Razor: Schick L1
    Blade: Pella/Chick
    Brush: TGN Finest
    Soap: Lo Haiku
Post: cold water, alum witch hazel, Aqua Velva Ice blue

Let me just start this off with I think Pella injector blades are about on par with Tiger blades! I prepped my face and had a great lather going then started with my neck WTG starting in the center and working out. I got down 3 full strokes and had to quit and change the blade. I don't know if it was a dud or the blades are that bad but I wasn't going to continue to find out. I inserted the key and pushed that one out with a new chick blade. It felt like what NCoxSTL described as more pulling the hairs out than cutting them. I threw that one away and relatherd my neck and started again. Aghh, now that's what I remembered the smoothness of that razor being. Right along the lines of my Fatboy on 3 with a Sharp Star blade in it. First real pass WTG, it was smooth and comfortable and got good beard reduction just like I remembered. Second pass was XTG, and again with good reduction and was thinking I might actually be on my way to.... Third pass was a pleasure ATG, and it was true I had got BBS smooth thankfully! I think that if I gone one full pass WTG with that blade I would have called it quits right there, much less any of the rest of it. I rinsed off with cold water and felt my face and it was smooth, dare I say it yes BBS smooth. Thank you Vince for the gift of that razor, I am enjoying it. I felt one little sting on my neck but no blood, sorry Mr.Freeze as I rinsed off. Next I applied the alum and felt it sting on my neck right where I felt it stinging before. I rinsed that off and splashed on the witch hazel and let it dry before trying the new aftershave I got today. I'm guessing between the alum and witch hazel it sealed up because I didn't feel any stinging on my neck where I did before, just a cooling sensation and a tightening of my skin. To recap if someone offer's you a Pella blade, thank them but say no thank you. You will thank me for this one later if you do. Hope everyone had a Great shave today!

The sad part is some people like the pellas. I'm sure the pellas feel sharp compared to the tiger which no one likes
