I was kind of wondering what effect that would have on his interest in traditional shaving!

I just didn't expect that out of such a mild feeling blade, but I knew it was sharp!

If was given a gift like that, it would be my first and last time wet shaving! LOL

This is my best friend actually lol. Have been inseparable since we met (Our moms are also best friends) at 3 months old. But in my defense this is also my friend who convinced someone who had never drank more then a sip of beer (me) before my bachelor party that doing shots of tequila would be safer then drinking beer the night before the big day as well as countless other stupid things growing up that I wont say as I don't want to incriminate myself ;). I cant wait to hear his thoughts on them. Oh sweet payback....

He loves it so far. He really likes the Voskhods but said he wanted to try something more aggressive (Enter Old Type) as well as another smooth blade that he doesn't want to have to worry about cutting himself up with. Well the Tiger wont cut him but about the smoothness...:happy097::happy102::eek:

The Sharp Star seems nice and sharp but is so smooth you tend to forget I think. I love the feel though.

Very true. If he draws blood from a Tiger it's friction burn. LOL

    July Leopard Blade Trials
Cartel Week, Sharp Star, half 1(1-2)

Bending blade and snapping in two before unwrapping of course is always the way to go. All DE blades snap apart easily in this manner. Fold over completely in both directions and any DE blade becomes shavette ready. And when placed in a shavette, Sharp Star delivers the famous cartel excellence of days gone by, and is on par with modern Cartel offerings like Voskhod and the Rapira brothers.

This blade is thin, crazy sharp, and deserving of full attention in a straight razor configuration. I perceived this blade to be as sharp as anything I've ever used beforehand. Grail shave is a given if properly chased with Sharp Star in a shavette. It's not the smoothest blade in this trial, but is in the middle of the pack.

Alum was rowdy at the jawline, probably operator error with regard to blade angle. AV Ice Sport...mentholated and Barber Shop scented, capped off the BBS. The tomatoes plants have filled their cages, and my plum tree out front has a bumper crop going. Other than that... all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

And while it was nice to get out the AV Musk today, somehow the day wasn't as complete without the Veg. Even SWMBO asked what was up. Her favorite soap scent? Tabac. And, I'll use a bit of Tabac cologne sometimes. But the Veg is still her favorite and has been since it chose me. Win, win for us.

I shave at night and like variety for the posts, but after washing my face in the morning... Veg on face and sides and back of scalp. It is like a status check, it helps make sure I am ready to go full Steve McQueen on a whim, if needed. So much more than just AS...it's a worldview.

I will typically use it more as a body splash, lightly, than an actual after shave. Especially in the heat....refreshing and oh so manly. Now if only I had a horse to ride to work each day.

    July Focus Day 13:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    TSD Lanolin Barber Shoppe
    Gillette Fatboy
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    TSD Floid Blue Type AS

I have found a new desire to use my safety razors after using the Barbasol for a while, so I broke out my Fatboy. It was a great shave with two easy passes for a DFS. I used a new shave stick from TSD, and the performance was equal to the other soaps I have from the shop. I also used a Shave Den Aftershave Splash for the first time this morning. I don't know how closely the scent matches Floid Blue as unfortunately I have never tried it, but this scent is great. It is a barber shop type of scent with some floral notes. The post shave feel is fantastic. It definitely makes for a great finish to a shave. I hope everyone has a great day!

    The Blade Trials!

Up today in the blade trials is the Dorco ST-300. I was expecting a terrible shave that was nothing but tugging and pain. Needless to say I was blown away. I did experience a tiny bit of tugging on the areas where my beard is the coarsest (chin and mustache) but I get that same tugging when I use all but the sharpest of blades. After the first pass it was smooth sailing. And let me tell you this blade is smoooooooth. This is perhaps the smoothest blade that I have ever used, it was like shaving with the back side of a butter knife. I would not hesitate to use this blade again. I did my normal 3 passes WTG, and two opposing diagonal XTG passes on my face which ended up BBS. On my neck I only go WTG and after 3 WTG passes I had a DFS. My 10 day rule with the Flare Tip I had in May really paid off because when you get the angle right it shaves just as efficiently as any razor I own! Ride the cap, nuff said! Have a great day my friends!

EDIT: My apologies, it was the Dorco ST-300 that I used today
