    Long ago....

I met a woman sitting at a bar in Miami. Being the available young man that I was, I chatted her up. During the conversation, I could tell she was secretly nervous and maybe not shooting straight. So, I asked her if she was married, her reply was, "why don't we just say at I am in between divorces."

    Takes two.

A friend of mine suggested that the only common denominator in my string of divorces was me. I agreed. The problem was obvious. I'm a lousy judge of women.

On the other hand, as unfortunate as it may be, a divorce grants both parties the chance to seek happiness again.

This is very true, as I well know. I tried doing the "honorable" thing and making it work for 10 years with the second one. Now, not all ten years were bad. But at least 8 of those years weren't good. Waste of time. Married for the wrong reasons based on my beliefs at the time.

    July Focus Day 14:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Route 66 Ghost Town
    Fiest & Co Panter
    Stirling Unscented PSB
Wholly Kaw Chypre Rose Concerto AS

I had a decent shave this morning. It was my first use of Route 66 soaps, and that was definitely the high light. The scent was great, and the performance was top notch. This was also my first shave with this razor, which was OK, but I will need to work with it a bit to see if I can improve. I would call this a CCS after one pass and some clean up. I finished with a new AS, the Chypre Rose Concerto from Wholly Kaw, and I have to say I am pretty impressed. The Wholly Kaw AS are a lot like Fine AS, and they have a very similar ingredient list. I definitely get some bergamot and lime from this, and obviously some rose. There is some oakmoss back there, too. It is a very pleasing scent, which is great for a final touch on a shave. I hope everyone has a great day.

Let us not forget that the R6 is a heavy chunk of solid stainless steel.

    July 2/3 Focus : Badger

As much as I'd like to love my badger brush, synthetic may have spoiled me. Stone Cottage Soapstone Hesperide is soft and loads easy, but I miss the scrubbiness of stiffer bristles. Can't complain about a Flare tip & Rapira SS. Alum played silent, and Pinaud left me smooth and comfortable.
Only a few more days until I try that synthetic brush again...

Very nice setup. I only have a few synthetic brushes, but I like them also.

July Focus on two non-Schick razors:
    • PAL InjectoMatic (3-Chick, 1-Dutch)
    • Personna Floating Head (3-Personna*74)

    07-14-16.JPG

    Razor: PAL InjectoMatic
    Blade: Schick NOS Dutch (1)

    Hot shower, cold-water shave.
    One-day growth, one-pass shave (ATG)

First three shaves with this razor during my focus was with the Schick China blade.
Admittedly, a great deal of those shaves were spent experimenting with angles and then perfecting muscle memory with the optimum angle for the razor. I have gotten three very good shaves. In fact yesterday’s shave left me with minimal stubble suitable for a one-pass ATG shave today - my best indicator of a close shave the day before.

But today’s shave, my first with the Dutch, was a notch above.
I just felt it was sharper and smoother. My best indicator of in-shave smoothness is how the ATG pass on my chin performs. (I have a mustache so no upper lip ATG indicator.) The ATG on the chin with the Dutch was much smoother than the Chick.

I did not chase or do touch-ups with either blade. This shave just feels better during and after. No doubt, both blades performed extremely well in this razor and I’m probably just splitting hairs here :happy108:(get it? just could’t resist that one!) but the Dutch was clearly the better blade today. (as usual - YMMV)

Tomorrow I will try a Dutch in the Personna FH for comparison.
I will spend next week continuing to get familiar with both razors and then alternate razors each day of the last week of the month for side-by-side comparisons.

    Cheers!
