Well, that's that. Went with the R3 Plate today and have finally tried each plate. Popped in a Voskhod to please the Cartel and broke out The Fat so I could remind @NCoxSTL what he is missing whilst doing Bladeapolloza. Don't get me wrong I like Arko but I couldn't stick (PUN!!! LOL!!!.Get it...because..Arko's...a...stick...ok I'll stop...) to just one soap for a long period of time so with that being said I applaud you and also inquire what is wrong with you?

Again this write up will mainly focus on the razor itself. I enjoyed using the R3 plate today. Middle of the road between mild and slightly aggressive. Efficient enough to yield a BBS in 2 passes with minor touch up. I could see this plate being a go to for every day shaving as it is comfortable and easy to use. Not sure how it would pair with more then a 24 hour beard but I will eventually find out as now that I have used each plate I want to stick to one plate for a week or two to really learn the insides and outs of each plate.

So what is next you may ask (ok so maybe you didn't ask but I will tell you anyways). I figured I will throw the numbers 1-6 in a randomizer and whatever comes up stick to that plate for 1-2 weeks and really focus on each plate. My overall goal is to find which ones I will use a lot and which ones will go back into the case unless certain circumstances (Look @Bama Samurai & @NCoxSTL I used a big word!!!) require I use them. So that is what next for me.




***By the way guys I have not abandoned my CJB focus as I am still using it daily for my head shaves. The only issue is I am getting great shaves (well minus this morning but no one wants to hear about that so...ahem....moving on) so there is not much to write about or really say. I figured I would just journal the Rockwell 6S for now as it is a new toy and whatnot and I figured would be a little more fun and refreshing to talk about then just slapping up a picture of the CJB and writing "BBS" and moving on.***

Well I do keep the Fat and Tabac on my desk. I can at least smell it. And look forward to Sunday to change it up. I'm just a stick-ler for consistency with all of these blades so I feel I need to stick with one soap. The only stick-y part is having enough to stick with it over the long haul. The mail lady will be stick-ing a case of the sticks into my mailbox today. Then I will stick it in the closet.

If you produced mayhem and massacre with the CJB then of course I want to know. But even in bloody dangers you know I'll stick beside you.

Long story short regarding the CJB... Don't drink about 6 cups of coffee and try to do a head shave while on a time restraint and with the jitters. Always ruins your morning when you have to pull your pain stick out of the back of your head.

Well I could have actually saved one ex the trouble if I had just been smarter in 2005. That's when I met my current wife. We dated about 6 months, then I broke up with her and ended up married to someone else a year later. As that one was ending, I got a phone call from Jen who just wanted to see if my number still worked. This was after nearly 5 years. Then another conversation about a month after that, followed by a voicemail that told me that we shouldn't talk anymore. Then a letter three months later apologizing and wondering if my number still worked. I finally called her back a week after getting the letter and we've been together ever since. Go figure, eh?

As someone who uses Arctique 2-3 times I week I have to agree with you. This stuff is a potent, painful, freeze. Getting nuts with it and you would have to skip the hot tub and go straight to the Emergency Room and pray you get there soon as amputation is always only seconds away with Arctique.

Yeah, this isn't something you want to splash on as you're heading out the door.

Well, I didn't mention she's finishing her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy. It is possible she's just using psychology to keep me in line. And lets me add new shiny toys to my collection occasionally which, hmmmmm...could be part of the control mechanism......ummmm.......I'll get back to you.

Tapatalk is a great option to the big screen but yeah it can be frustrating. It was my only option at work before they opened up the restrictions a bit. I find myself still going to my phone first while I'm here, like now. I'm staring at the web page on my computer while posting this on my phone. Old habits die hard.

As far as blade gap goes, I am not convinced that alone makes for an efficient razor, but since its something we can get and compare, its what most people focus on. I think the geometry of the cap is what determines efficiency/ aggressiveness. Some geometries force you to ride the cap to try and get the right angle on the blade. Some heads have so much curve that you can't get a good angle on the blade unless it is wide open. (Looking at you Gillette adjustable.) A DE that is designed to let the user select the angle of the blade is likely to bite and be considered aggressive, but should give great shaves once you have the technique down.

That's the direction I was leaning in. How much can the user adjust the blade angle, based on the safety bar and the radius of the cap, combined with the exposure of the blade and the angle it is held at.

...and the problem with that is?

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!
(at least you haven't resorted to getting your packages mailed to your office instead of home, like some of us.)
