Hey Douglas, where did you get that little stuffed bird from? It looks soooo life-like! :happy108:

Seriously folks, Douglas if that is a real bird, that photo is definitely calendar-worthy! :happy088:

Looks real to me. You can kinda see the top of a humming Bird feeder hanging from the rod he is perched on

So I threw the numbers of the plates for the Rockwell into a randomizer and this is what I got:

    1. R5
    2. R6
    3. R3
    4. R1
    5. R4
    6. R2

So starting tomorrow/tonight as there is a good chance I will shave again when I get home as I already have the lovely full fledge 5'0 Clock shadow I will be sticking to the R5 Plate for a week or two to learn the ins and outs of each plate. Over the course of the week I will test out the comfort and efficiency over things such as 12 hour beard, 24 hour beard, and more then 24 hour beard to see how it handles each thing. I will try and stick to my two go to blades (Voskhod and Ladas) to eliminate too many variables but other then the plate and the two blades I will go through my regular rotation of soaps and what not.

Report for the next shave coming either tomorrow or tonight so for those who are interested stay tuned.

    Aftershave: Fine Fresh Vetiver

First shave with this beauty. 6/8 stainless round point. The razor was rescaled with horn by Mastro Livi himself. Very smooth and nice shave, DFS in 2 and a half passes. Great performance as usual for Route 66 soap. Had a sample of Fine Fresh Vetiver, and it complemented the soap nicely.

If you feed them regularly they will become semi-tame. I would often sit on the porch where the feeder is, and they would fly up to my face and hover, almost like they were saying hello. I once had one perch on my soda can sitting on the arm of my rocker.

    Grand Blade Trial

    Razor - H1 Gillette Slim(2)
    Blade - dorco-st300-platinum.jpg (1)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
Post - Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Blade #1 is down so only 108 (or so) to go. Up next is the Dorco ST-301, a Platinum blade from South Korea. Its reputation isn't very good so we'll see what we can make of it. I'll be talking more about it on my blog in a day or two as I catch up there. Lots of research, reading, then shaving and so on going on so this has become a bit consuming. I'll get it into a routine shortly.

The Slim was back on 2 today. Arko lather was great with the Wolf so no issues there. Nobody can say this blade is among the sharpest but it felt smooth at the mild setting. Seemed like it worked pretty well, though after one pass I could tell it hadn't done a fantastic job. Second pass XTG still left a lot to do so the third pass ATG was important. A bit of touch up and I finished with a DFS. Not bad, but a lot of work for a DFS, and not a high one either. Still, no blood, and the alum was quiet so there's that.

I think this blade will either shine more at higher settings or get rough and nasty. We'll start finding out tomorrow!

How much Arko do you need for a year of blade trials? Well, not sure but we'll start with this!

You should donate some Arko to our Olympic athletes. It might help alleviate some worries about the Zika virus.

    Pre: Shower, Nivea face wash
    Razor: Gem Micromatic
    Blade: Gem (Personna)
    Brush: TGN synthetic
    Soap: WSP Bay Rum
Post: cold water rinse, alum, witch hazel, Aqu Velva Ice Blue

I was kind of sore yesterday from my shave on Tuesday so I waited till today to shave. I'm glad I did, had a second look at my beard growth to make sure I was following the grain pattern. I decided on a SE shave today since I don't have the correct blade to follow the blade trials. I wet my brush after re-wetting my face to get set to make my lather and the WSP did pretty good, it's no Catie's Bubbles or Haslinger but it did pretty good. Well I lathered my face for my first pass WTG and got really good reduction. I relathered and went for my second pass XTG and got really good reduction again. I rinsed my face off and felt my neck and cheeks and decided to go for a Third and final pass ATG. Third pass I was really careful about because I was already really close but went for it anyway. I got really, really close, so close I was BBS smooth and was pleased with it. I rinsed off with cold water and ran my alum over my face and just got a whisper under my chin. I then rinsed that off and splashed on the witch hazel and waited for that to dry. After that I patted on my aftershave and felt it cooling effect on my face and cleaned up everything. Hope everyone had a great shave today!
