Read a post on TSD recently and it tweaked me about thoughts I've had lately....:think002:

I’ve been on TSD for just over a year and love it. Hope to be here many more as I learned (at 60) what I’ve been missing all my life! I contribute to the threads, store and through donations. I belong to no other shave forum.

My main participation has been in the 30-Day Focus thread where I learned to shave through the help of so many considerate, experienced shavers. I would also post weekly on the SOTD thread.

I continue to try a lot of new (to me) equipment as I discover more and more about this passion/hobby/etc. So in trying out new gear, I also look for advice from the experts so I post my daily shaves in multiple places.

Sometimes I post and think, “why am I posting almost the same thing in multiple places?”

For instance - one month I did a 30-day Focus on a Schick Repeating Injector razor and posted daily in three different threads - 30-Day, SE/Injector and the Repeating Injector thread, plus once a week in the SOTD!

I know at first I did it thinking that I might pick up a tip from any single person who happens into that particular thread and sees my post.

But sometimes I think I’m just repeating myself for no real reason.
(Something my wife accuses me of frequently!) :rolleyes005:

    Anyhow, just a personal reflection.

I certainly understand and readily accept that many times I do it for the camaraderie I find from individuals who frequent a particular thread who enjoy the social interaction revolving around a particular shaving subject.
    :hooray:

So, how many different threads do you post your daily shave in and why?

    Cheers!

I usually post in two threads every day, but will post my shaves in more depending on the gear I am using. I post in the 30 Day Focus and SOTD threads just about every day. I do find I post very minimal details on the SOTD thread, as I primarily use this thread as window shopping thread, so I find myself treating it as such. I post more details and am more active in the 30DC threads. On days I use my straights, I will post in that thread as well. I also post in the Shave Den Sunday thread.

I guess I use each of these a little differently, so posting to multiple threads seems OK.

    Thanks for your thoughts Jim.

Just to be clear to everyone who reads this thread:
No way I'm implying that there is anything wrong with posting daily shave reports in multiple threads. I'm just curious if I am inside or outside the norm on WHY we do it.

Also just to clarify the clarification: I was just saying I find my personal time spent posting in multiple threads to be OK. I also was not trying to make a judgement on anything else. :)

I mainly post in either SOTD or 'Which SR Did you use today?"—sometimes in both.
I can't help but feel 'deja vu' in perusing some of the threads as there is considerable duplication.
This repetition may be perception more than reality but the end result is, after awhile, I'm less likely to visit other threads in anticipation I've already read the content or seen the eye-candy shots.

That stated, I have found my interest in wet-shaving is primarily limited to a very specific subset and thus the majority of threads posted daily don't hold much interest to me nor require my participation.
We're all on different steps in our wet-shaving journey and I am glad TSD has a broad menu from which to choose.

Before joining the 30 Day Group, I posted in SOTD. After joining 30 Day my detailed post went there, & for a while I posted a shorter version in SOTD. I've since been pinched for cash, so window shopping in SOTD is not as important to me. I haven't posted in SOTD for quite a while. When I had the B-V3 in hand, I did post on the West Coast Group & 30 Day, too. If/when I get hobby money in my pocket I have enough items on my shopping list that I don't need SOTD to further inspire purchases.
I know I miss some interaction not viewing SOTD, but the 30 Day Group keeps me informed and entertained.

I normally post in the sotd thread. But if i use a straight razor, I'll post in that thread as well. I mostly use the same pic, but the breif narrative will be different. If i have comments about the soap or a/s, those go in the sotd.
If i have comments about the straight razor, I'll reserve those for the straight razor thread.
I'm not a photographer, and my neighbors really dont want me pransing around in my drawers lookin for interesting places to photo my shave gear. So y'all just get a shared photo between the two posts.
I try to comment on how the goins-ons went. I see lists of gear a lot, but no how'd they dos. I try to relate my experience to those who care to know.

When I do post its only in the SOTD thread. I use to post daily but then time was an issue and then I fell out of the pattern of doing so.

Why would I assume anyone other than me would be at all interested in my daily shave? I could care less how anyone else performs such a mundane practice and would never presume to inflict my daily shave on anyone else! Not only do I not post such stuff, I don't read other's posts either.

I'll talk about equipment and soaps, no problem, but the subject of this thread is, for me, TMI.

So youd be interested in what razor someone uses, but not how it performs?
Which soap, but not how your face may feel after using it?

I almost never post them here, to be fair. I usually post a SOTD in Dutch, on the Dutch shaving forum, and don't really take the time to translate them.

When I do post them in English, I usually post them on both TSD and TSR.

I thought that was the whole point of this Forum, to share our shaves; our knowledge; kibitz about equipment, make some friends along the way. I am sorry that shaving is still mundane for you. It's because of TSD, that what was once a daily chore, has now become a daily pleasure. Personally, I find it fascinating discovering what my colleagues use for equipment, what they enjoy, and what they don't enjoy.

If I shave a straight and it is part of my 30 Day Focus then it get's posted in the 30 Day thread and the straight of the day thread. They have slightly different readership.

The 30 Day thread is entertaining and I learn from other's experience. The straight thread is great for razor porn.

I post in the SOTD thread and sometimes in the 30 day thread with my comrades. If I use a straight I might post in the straight thread, etc. usually I reserve the comments for the razor specific thread. SOTD is just gear used.

I don't post in the SOTD threads, because it just doesn't interest me. I like New and different threads. Just like posting in the what's your workout today threads, it just isn't me. Although I shave every day, and work out almost every day, I just don't share these things with everyone. I also don't tweet on Twitter.

Good morning RT. This thread is a good idea and well over due. I also belong to a few shave related sites and I post mainly in their SOTD threads as many other do. I usually post the same information in all those threads as I do here. I have in the past posted the same information in SOTD in the monthly focus, and the injector thread, however, now I just post my picture of that day in threads other than SOTD.

I'll post in What Straight Razor Did You Use Today and that's typically it. Since there are not too many of us SR shavers around, I feel that sharing our results helps each other and especially those just starting out.
