I had the Pro 48 too, but SWMBO took that one for herself. I preferred the 10066, however, so no tears were shed. I have another BoS on the way...the Semogue 620. I'm looking forward to comparing it to the Omega as I've never tried a Semogue. Will be interesting to find out if I have another brush I love or just deal with. I pretty much stick to a three brush rotation right now with the three faves. One boar, one badger and one horse.
Must have Swedish mattress.........Must have Swedish Mattress.......... Actually I have a Tempurpedic. And before you ask, no it's not over 8 years old.
Interesting concept. I often only do two pass shaves to achieve the 'desired' results ( a good, close shave but not quite the true and complete BBS which often requires at least three passes plus a little touch-up on the rougher patches). My beard is light ( density) so two passes usually suffices to pass inspection most days. For guys with denser, barbed-wire beards, a two-pass near-BBS shave simply ain't a reality.
Finally caught up on the thread. Nine pages in two days. Impressive. I'm doing a no focus focus this month as far as software and hardware. I am going to try to get back to two pass and done. I have been doing up you four passes on my chin, and want to get the irritation level down. Gear will be mostly straights, unless I get more business trips. I still have two borrowed straights from @Norcalnewb to try out, a new straight and shavette on the way, and about 40 recently purchased straights to home and test. I will try to follow along with @mrchick on his honing adventures. Also need to start working on thinning down the heard, and sell some straights.
Lovely two pass shave with my new C-Mon Blackie purchased from Kevin @HolyRollah A very keen, smooth shaver. After receiving a refund from EBay on a no show razor I purchased another of his offerings, the restoration of which can be seen here: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/wostenholm-son-pipe-6-8.51547/ Can't wait to try out a razor that may be 200 years old.
Probably not in my case. I replace a mattress when it no longer provides good sleep. The one I had before the Tempurpedic was at least 12 years old.
I think the record so far for me is a couple who had a 28 year old mattress. That had to be a beat down piece of crap.
SOTD 8/2/16 Pre: shower, Nivea face wash Razor:Gillette Fat Boy (3) Blade: Personna Lab Blue Brush: TGN synthetic Soap: TSD Special Post: cold water, alum, witch hazel, Nivea sensitive aftershave balm, Aqua Velva Ice Blue aftershave Well I guess I'm getting in a bad habit of only shaving every other day. I'll try and correct this shortly, but as for tonight's shave it was a little better than DFS. First pass was WTG and gave me good reduction. Second pass was XTG and again with good reduction, but I started feeling a slight irritation on one spot of my neck. Third pass was ATG and got pretty close but I could defiantly tell I had gotten some irritation on the right side of my neck. I rinsed my face with some cold water and then applied the alum which stung a little bit where I had the irritation, but it wasn't bad. I rinsed off with cold water again after it stopped stinging and applied the witch hazel. Next I decided to sooth my skin with the Nivea aftershave and let it soak in a bit to sooth the irritation. Later I applied the Aqua Velva aftershave and again got a little sting but I did not get the cooling sensation that I had previously gotten from it. Maybe the Nivea stopped it, I'm not sure. Anyway all's well that ends well, hope everyone had a great shave today and a even better one tomorrow!
There's certainly no rule that says you have to shave every day. If you need to, of course, then skipping could be a bad thing. I know I can't skip Wednesday through Sunday because of work. No penalties assessed for shaving every other day though. The Cartel is a merciful dictatorship.
I am a lucky guy, and I get to be outside in Colorado every single day for 6-12 hours. Amazingly good climate, all things considered.
Fun fact: Apple autocorrect makes "Tempurpedic" into "tempura edit". It's gonna be a while, I need to ponder that.
