Way to keep at it Tom! Perseverance can really pay off in this hobby

 

I don't have a picture to share since I didn't have time this morning, but I got a "dolphin" smooth shave from my Gem g-bar and a Gem Personna blade. Paired with my Semogue 820 and Stirling glacial lemon chill, it was wonderful!

I actually like the g-bar so much that I'm going to use it the rest of this week. It's a great razor!

Post: Witch hazel splash, Speick, Nivea sensitive balm
WTG, minor touch-up

Smooth shave with the Schick Adjustable on setting 5. That was my sweet spot for this razor. Setting 3 was too mild, and setting 6 didn't feel quite right. Setting 5 was smooth and comfortable.

Soap Commander Fortitude is excellent stuff. Great scent, exceptional lather, great post-shave feel.

Thanks to @twhite for loaning out this razor to any who want to try it. Generosity like that is what makes TSD such a great place!

I wanted to shave with the PAL Adjustable again today to test out the impact of the soap on the shave. No surprise, the Haslinger out-performed the Sterling. No burn at all although I did get a small collection of weepers. I'm laying this more on the blade being at end of life than anything else. Normally 4 or 5 shaves is all I'll get out of a Schick and today's shave was number 5. Any user error is conveniently excused. Both recent shaves have left me super smooth with a super efficient shave that will outlast most anything else out there.

With this shave I can now make the PAL Adjustable available for a pass around. I plan to post something on this in a separate thread in the next week or so.
