Here is the start of my knockoff. As I do not have access to a lathe. I have to use a 3 axis Mill. I am cutting one half then flip it over and cut the other half. Then I will take the part and stand it up and cut the threads. I will work more on it tomorrow.
Don't marvel until i actually finish it. Who knows what will happen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Caps are machined and handles are roughed out. Next to thread the handles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I am successful. Can I be a Junior Member? As it is not a Rubberset Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I may not have a real say, because my 400 is a hybrid , but I vote at least for an honorary membership.
I applaud your desire, efforts, and results Tom @twhite ! While the rest of us had to brave the winds of fortune, or a bidding war on the bay, you Sir have taken the issue to hand and produced the very item. I would suspect having a solid handle gives a superior feel as well. Thank you again for being innovative in the field. The photos showing your process and step by step as the piece emerges from the block are so cool! Member? I'd vote for a gold star!
Oh my! I had to wipe the drool off my chin. Gorgeous! I'll polish one for you no charge but it might get lost in the mail coming back
