Whilst I am a huge fan of PAL injectors, just had a shave with a Schick J3- Golden 500. For me this is the best of the modern Schicks [That I Have ] when using a single blade. Even on 9th outing with a Schick [ Japanese ] the shave was so smooth , and yet very efficient with a nice close allround finish.

    [IMG][IMG] Three Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water Prep & Massage with Argan Oil
    Rolls Razor
    Hollow Ground Blade
    Fitchard Pure Badger
    LEA Tallow soap
    Humphreys Original Witch Hazel

I had a Test Shave this Morning with this NOS Rolls Razor Set that I Just Restored for a TSR Member..The Rolls Hollow Ground Blade Took a Very Keen Edge after Honing it..More Importantly..Its as Smooth as a Butter Knife..Anybody that is Looking to Hone a Hollow Ground Blade..Well Just Look at the Lovely Shiny Bevel on the Top Pic..That's What You Should See from the Bevel Setting Hone You are using with the Naked Eye..If You Don't See this Sparkling Edge then You haven't Set the Bevel..:D

The Bevel Must be Set before You can Move on Through the progression System..In Fact the Honing Process Does Not Even Begin Until You have RESTORED THE EDGE..Because that is What We are Doing at the Bevel Setting Stage..This is the Same for any Hollow Ground Blade..The CV Heljestrand Blades are the Same..The Rolls Blade is Sheffield Steel & Cuts Faster then the CV Heljestrand Blades..This is because the CV Heljestrand Blades are Made from Much Harder Swedish Tempered Steel the Same as their SRs & I Have Honed Some Swedish Steel SRs..;)

One is Not Harder to Hone than the Other or Made of Better Steel..The CV Heljestrand Blades Take Longer to Cut is All But they Take a Killer Edge..A Hard Steel Carbon Blade would Not Work in the Rolls System Any Roads...The Rolls System would Not be Capable of Maintaining an Edge..The Softer Steel Sheffield Blade Is Easier Cut & Maintained on the Rolls Honing Pad..There We Have it..:p

    I Am BBS Dolphin Smooth & Refreshed..:kar:

Excellent shave this morning with the PAL Injecto-Matic. Very precise and maneuverable. Wonderful lather from my Stirling Cocoa Forest shave soap. Lovely scent, slick, and protective. Three passes for a dolphin smooth finish. I am smooth and refreshed. Have a great day friends. :happy005:

Today was my first use of Route 66 Rum Runner I received as a gift. The title had me believing it was a straight forward bay rum soap. The scent off the puck was more like a sweet rum drink. When in doubt, I went to the web site and read the description which read " Bright white Citrus and Ginger top notes over Sweet Hay, Sandalwood and Cinnamon. Anchored with Sugar Cane Rum and Birch Wood." I fully admit I am not the best at describing scents. However, as I lathered I picked up some more of the ginger and spice but not like a normal bay rum scent. More like a spiced rum punch. All in all a very pleasing scent and one I am sure that I will enjoy using. The performance of the soap is top notch as expected from Route 66 soaps. The lather was stable, slick and provided great glide and cushion. The post shave feel is top notch as well.

I went with a traditional 3 pass shave paying attention to my trouble areas as I went. The Cobra was like a squeegee wiping away the lather and whiskers. With minor touch ups, along my jaw line and neck, I ended with a smooth and drama free BBS. Finished of the shave with a splash of Captain's Choice Bay Rum with menthol added. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Thank you! It was my maiden voyage with it. Definitely a little different than the 1914, but it was a good shave.

You know I never thought when I named it that it might be confused with a Bay Rum scent. In fact doesn't have any Bay scent in it:)! I suppose putting Bay in the name might indicate that! Best intentions and all ha! Really nice photo Clint!

I've been wanting to try a shave with this Christy razor for some time now and today I gave it a go. I started with a NOS blade and almost completed my first pass before I gave up. I pulled that blade and loaded a Schick blade. It held OK , not as tight as I would like but I finished 2 more passes with no problems and the results were very good! So yes you can shave with your Christy razor. Afterwards I tightened up the head and now it holds the blade nice and snug. I'm going to be using it on a regular basis now. I hope everyone is enjoying a peaceful Sunday!

Seeking a PAL Injecto Matic Razor. I have discovered when making a search for one , it is best to ensure that you actually search for PAL Injecto Matic [ note the space ]. One on UK site at moment . I just got a golden and was the only bidder.

Without any reason, I just assumed Bay Rum so I wanted to make sure others didn't make the same assumption. :D I really like the scent and appreciate how it changes as it is lathered. Kathleen, congrats on another great soap.

  15. Looks like the makings of a great shave. And travel-size Witch Hazel! Brilliant!

  16. Last night was the 4th shave with the type "E" injector with a Chinese Schick blade, good ol' Williams soap, pure badger brush, and Witch Hazel to finish.
A simple shaving experience with great results.

How did you tighten up the head?

That is possibly the shiniest 1924 I've seen... is it replated or did you just get lucky to find one that shiny? :)

What is the scent of the Cocoa Forest soap? Ever since I got a tub of the Chocolate Bourbon soap from PAA, I've been hoping other artisans would try their hands at chocolate scented soaps/aftershaves, etc. since the Chocolate Bourbon is the favorite scent of nearly everyone that smells my collection.

It's complex but a very natural, fresh, woodsy, soil, cocoa thing going on. It's lovely! :love055:
