Hi from Seoul, nice to meet you. I prefer aggressive razors and the Futur is one of my favorites, I think you will be very pleased. Just be careful when adjusting or removing the blade. When I remove the blade I use a towel to cover the head so I don't cut myself.
Welcome @ Kypros Christodoulides ! Plenty of opinions and advice headed your way. Everyone is either seeking their best shave or thinks they found it until a new (razor, blade, soap, brush, pre or post shave) product pops up. Glad you have joined us in the search for the best shave yet!
Above the Tie. You choose the aggression. Great razors on the pricey side but you'll love it. I would start with an "R".
I have to admit that when I shaved with a DE last week for the first time, I had no trouble to achieve the perfect shave after following the instructions and I kicked myself for not having done so the very first time I tried it 35 years ago, but back then there was no u-tube. That would have saved me 35 years of anguish using carts. I feel confident I'll have no problem, and indeed I haven't had any, shaving with aggressive OC, DE razors. This I put down to the fact that being a professional violinist, I can control my hands and fingers well. Time though will show.
Yasou and welcome to the Den. New OC Gillettes are among my favorites, especially the short comb which gives me great shaves. Just experiment with different blades as you will get a different experience with each one. You'll find the combo that works well.
Hello jimjo 1031, I think I'll start by giving the Russian voskhod brand a try. I hear only good things about them.
Just so you can say you heard something other than good things about Voskhod, I think they are a mediocre blade and won't be buying more. But that's me.
So far I have used the Wilkinson blade and I must say I have no complaints. What should I be trying next is my question. All suggestions welcome.
EBay has vendors selling different types. Just shop for the best price with shipping. Probably from Russia for best shipping. They ship to the US for free. Maybe to Cyprus also.
Hello all, I've just realized that the antique Gillette OC razor I've been using is not the 'new' model, but the old type that came out in 1903. I looked at some pictured on the net and I'm sure it's the old type. It even has the usual split on the hollow handle at both ends. I don't know if it shaves differently than the 'new' OC, DE Gillette but it's pretty aggressive.
First one, older short comb. This next one, new short comb.... this 3rd one new long comb.... my opinion, new short comb the better head
to TSD @KyprosChristdoulides I hope you enjoy it here. I use a Gillette 1935 "NEW" LCOC myself. Maggard has a pretty nice OC also.
the old type shaves like a dream although not as smooth as I would have liked. How does it compare with the 'new' though?
