The Haul - August 2016

My Wilkinson Sword Empire set came today. I'm very happy with the condition everything is in, including the blade. As it is right now the blade is sharp enough to shave arm hair.

 

Try shaving as is! See if it shaves decent.

You should be able to tell right away . Worst case it doesn't shave and you pull out another razor to save the shave. Keep an old faithful ready just in case. A few strokes will let you know.

 

A few Schicks, and a nice flat board for a bench strop!

 

Excited about a big haul from TSD Shop! The La Toja stick is the odd man out in this photo. I got it in a trade and it happened to arrive today too. It's fun coming home to a bunch of goodies!

Riding home from a visit with family in Texas, I caught an antique store going out of business.
Scored a Shulton set of Old Spice. AS is nearly full, as are the two AS talc. The mugs are from different eras. All that in an Old Spice gift box with a mirror on the top.
The old AS has a softer scent than current production, but after drying, they seem very similar to me. Still searching for the Fresh Lime.

 

My first Kamisori arrived today. It appears to be an NOS Inoue Tōsuke with the original cardboard sleeve over the case. The blade is in beautiful shape. I can't wait to try this one out.

 

He (@Darkbulb) did a New Forest Focus month a while back, lots of photos and info. It was a good read.

 

The generosity of TSD members continues to amaze me. I became interested in Rubberset 400 brushes and was fortunate to find one in the wild. Click the link below if you don't know about them. Our member Tom @twhite , designer of The Bunny razor, got curious as well. Rather than wait for one to make it's self available he did what folks with skills do. He made one. He made several! I'm honored to be the new owner of one of his B-400 handles. I wouldn't call it a copy because in his own way he took the original design and improved it while keeping the classic lines. Thank you Tom!
( He out did himself by making me one of the Few, the Proud, an owner of a B-V3 too!)

I just received a brand new sealed pack of blades from the bay. If I knew it was in this pristine condition, I would have ordered two, one to keep and one to use...

 

My "Dutch Danglies " arrived from my friend @Karl G today! Now I have to decide what razor to use first....
