Russian steel (and their machine tools) is great stuff!

    @NCoxSTL

As Czar, surely there is someone you may call to demand more production of Sharp Star! Your people await.

I tried sending a message to Putin. They took a message as he was out with his new pet. I'm hopeful he'll return soon to help out. In the meantime there has been a new seller on the bay show up with a solid supply of Sharp Stars. So at least the current supply has been extended.

    August Straight Razor Focus
As you guys know, I sometimes struggle with focus. I bought this shirt to help keep me focused on the straight razor shaving process.

It really has. This is the most satisfying accomplishment yet. Next hill to climb will be restorations.
Thanks for all of your encouragement Chris!

    August Focus Day 13:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    L'Occitane Cade SC
    Gem Damaskeene
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    The Veg

Great shave this morning. I am really enjoying some of the SE razors. They are certainly capable of some quality shaves. This Damaskeene and the ER 1914 are both great shavers. I had another easy two pass DFS this morning topped with the Veg. What better way to start a Saturday? I hope everyone has a great day!

I may have brought another into the wet shaving fold last night. My niece and her husband were over last night and I took him into the room that houses my collection. He was very interested so I gave him a 48-49 Super Speed and a tuck of Astra SP blades. He is going to use it to trim around his beard (much needed)

    August Straight Shave
I think this one needs a touch up on the hones. I managed a nice DFS but it wasn't as smooth as I'm used to.

I don't know who they marketed these ER blades to but I feel sorry for them. Absolutely horrible, it felt like I was scraping my face off. I thought maybe I loaded the blade wrong and loaded another. It was equally horrible. I got half my face done and switched to a Schick blade, much better, I finished BBS. This was also my first try with a badger brush, @wmbjr sent me this wonderful brush and I really liked it. It loaded easily, lathered great plus it felt good on my face. Everything else worked great. Finished up with the Stirling Barbershop aftershave and feel great. Have a great day folks!

Finally a day off to relax and catch up!!! What a crazy few weeks it has been. Working doubles almost every day and as if kitchens aren't hot enough...well they are just lovely in the 90-100+ degree heat (sarcasm overload). Had two cooks pass out last night mid service from the heat (they are both ok just dehydration, stress of the kitchen, and heat are a great recipe for a disaster risotto). Conducted a wonderful safety brief after we closed up last night and let the crew know they need to start staying hydrated and drink plenty of water as well as starting now during each shift we will start rotating the cooks with trips to the walk in where it is nice in cool. If that doesn't work I will bring in the hose and start spraying them with water. Don't need the guys dropping like flies.

    On to the shave!!!!

    BBS...

    Sorry....boring I know...

    Razor: Super-109 (5)
    Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (4)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Cella

Another very nice shave from the SA, though I'm pretty sure the Rapira may be ready to be replaced.

I find myself in a bit of a conundrum with this razor. On one hand, I am pleased with the results I get from it. On the other, I think I still have an ingrained preference for the Slim, even though the two are very similar. This got me wondering something which I would appreciate some feedback on...

Recently, a number of pass-arounds have started here, although all have been for semi-exotic Injector razors. Do you think there would be sufficient interest if I were to offer up the SA as a pass-around (holes in the handle and all)? Feedback appreciated.

It feels like preseason camp for the new razors. Everyone is trying hard to earn a spot on the roster, yesterday was a Towa frame back and today is a TI 69 frame back. At best only one will make the cut, like a punter there is only room enough for one on the roster.

The TI was touched up the hit the pasted strops to create a more direct comparison between the two razors. The TI edge felt very smooth and sharp edging out the Towa on both measures. When the edge feels this smooth and sharp I will take a more aggressive angle going for the epic shave.Four passes with just one nick and beyond my normal BBS. I thought maybe we had an epic shave but the alum gave some feedback. Still all As for this shave and at this point in camp the TI is leading, smoother, sharper and cooler name but neither are good looking.

I got inspired by all the Arko and Veg flying around and who doesn't love a FatBoy?
Swapped out a Derby blade that hadn't started tugging. I was just ready for a change. In with a slightly used Astra SP, off with the stubble. Good -n- smooth in 3 passes. And no nicks. Might have been the Derby blade, dunno. Because The Veg!

3 passes wiped out 3 days of growth quite easily. The Ikon X3 feels so mild on the face but wipes away whiskers so smoothly. Have a great day friends!

    August Straight Razor Focus
I did it, I did it! It took over a hundred straight razor shaves, but today I am truly BBS with a straight. I took my time and did a WTG pass followed by XTG. The cleanup was just a little ATG on the jawline.
