All the Magic Happens on the Bevel Setting Hone..The 15 Micron...Why You Ran it Across a Stone in the 1st Place I Wouldn't Know.Test Shave it..The Hanging Hair Test is a Guide is All..The Blade Should be Ideally Cutting Hairs at the Base to Mid Way from the 15 Micron..You Need a Strop..You Also Need to Get an Intermediate Hone Between the 15 Micron & 5 Micron..That's Way Too Big a Jump.. :D

    Razor: Lady Eversharp
    Blade: Schick Dog Danglies:happy093:
Brush: Toms B-400 with Omega 10066 knot
    Soap: Haslinger
    AS: Old Spice

I got the razor and Knot from @RyX in a trade. Thanks!

I started the shave with a Chinese Schick blade. I had 3 full days growth and started the first pass. I could feel right away that it was not going to be an effortless shave. So I stopped right there and loaded up some Dutch Schicks. Now we're taking. The first pass reduction was stupendous. I moved on to the other 2 passes and finished with an irritation free BBS shave. These blades transform the mildest razors into top performers. I found the Lady to be very maneuverable and easy to get the angle. I find it the same as my M's.

Bit about the Brush. This was my first go with it. I set the loft at about 58 mm. I was trying to replicate the original as close as possible. I came up a little short on it. I gave it a good washing, but still had the Boar funk, but not too bad. It lathered really nice. I am quite pleased with it. Now to get a bunch of shaves on it to break it in.

For a moment I considered Googling "Schick Dog Danglies", but then I see they're Dutch Schicks. So much better than Chicks?

Didn't I see where you had posted a link to a honing video for these blades? I have a couple of Rolls blades that need some work, more than what I would like to try on the hone.

These SE Blades are Honed the Same as an SR Blade..There is No Differnce..None Whatsoever..I Hone Both..The Rolls Blades Do Need One Layer of Tape to Keep the Bevel Inline with the Rolls System..Tape is Optional for Normal SE Hollow Ground Blades...That's All there is to Know that's Particular about Honing these Blades..I Only Showed a Video of Someone Honing an SR..:)

    Adjustable August
DEs - Gillette Fatboy and Slim
    Injectors - PAL and Schick

I spent the first two weeks of the month with my Gillette Adjustables. The Slim did seem to give a better shave. It seemed to handle better, especially around the chin. One shave with the Slim almost gave me a weekday shave where I did not have to shave the next workday.

In this third week I'm moving to adjustable injectors starting with the PAL, using a Chinese Schick blade. Vacation mode, so not shaving every day.

    3-day growth, 2-pass shave.
1st pass at the halfway setting XTG
2nd pass dialed down to the one-quarter setting for ATG

Pretty great reduction on 1st pass. Mowed through the 3-day growth as smooth as can be setting up a very close BBS on the ATG, with just minimal touch-up on the jaw.

Great outdoor shave on the beach! :happy069:

    Cheers!

I've only used Chicks that I can find easily enough. Like DE razors, folks develop preferences for types or brands of blades. Now I hear my great shaving blades are only mediocre? Understanding I'm fixing to stir it up, I'll ask my question anyway.

Anyone care to share the name of their preferred injector blades,
and maybe a hint where I might shop for replenishing my stock?

My favorite of easy to get blades are Feather Artist Club blades. The only down side is you need to cut them to length. They will make most any middle of the road injector a top performer. That being said. I still prefer the Chick blades in both of my PAL's and my E's oh yes and my Bunny. The Dutch blades are a rare treat. I find the Feathers to be almost on par with the Dutch blades.
    My two cents.

I almost for got the NOS twins. If your razor can take them, they rock too.

I need to get both the Japanese single and twins to try.

For me it really depends on the razor. For example, nothing beats the Schick in a PAL Injecto Matic or the Bunny but I won't shave with them in a G type Schick. I almost sold my C3 when I was using a Schick blade in it but when I slipped a NOS Super Chromium in it suddenly became one of my favorite razors. And the NOS twins will totally transform a lot of the later injectors - notably the Schick Adjustable, the Personna Floating Head and the Type I. Finally, I'm with @twhite on the Dogs Danglies (Dutch made NOS Schicks) and the modified Feather. The Danglies are superb in a Type D or F and the Feathers are the best for me in a G and work well in the E also. They probably sing in a few others but I have to get some better scissors to cut them. My wife is going to kill me if I use hers again. :scared003:

Oh yeah, the Hussy and a Personna are a match made in heaven. :happy088:

    +1 on all that Tom!

First off, I agree with you @RyX on the blade YMMV postulate. However the blade variable is much more narrow than the DE world as there are so fewer types in the injector world.

Having tried almost 2 dozen different injector razors in the past 12 months, I chose the Chicks as my go-to blade for baseline testing - they work very well for me on most razors and they are plentiful and cost-efficient.

As I get to know each razor through about a 2 - 4 week Focus, I'll try different blades based on the recommendations of the wizened ones on this thread.

At the end of the trials (I'm predicting late fall) I hope to post my favorite blade for every injector razor I own from Schick C1 through M, both PALs, a Personna Foating Head and the new Single Edge.

Spoiler alert - most of my favorites are the ones already mentioned by @twhite
I just received the Japanese Schicks, both the single and twin versions, so I'll be throwing them into the mix as well. They are much more expensive then the Chicks.

btw - I get the Chicks from Walgreens online, the Feather Artist Club Professionals from a variety of online provides and Japanese blades from eBay. The NOS Dutch Schicks are a tough find and the Twins come up from time-to time on the Bay as well from what seems to be the same seller. (The guy must have cleaned out the factory as it closed down!)

    Good luck Rick!

Thank y'all for the concise advice, opinions, and actual information!
I feel better knowing I've not experienced the worst, but instead the standard blades.
A couple of the local shops sell the longer types used for hair shaper shavettes. Being somewhat better informed I can attempt shortening for use in my razors.
Simple as trim to length and load into a cartridge to install!

And to think I passed up injector type razors when my SRAD & D.E.AD were acting up. I have some catching up to do.
