Magnificent shave this morning with the PAL Adj. loaded with a "Dutch Danglies" blade. Sharp, smooth, and exacting. Wonderful cooling lather from the JabonMan Lime Incense shave soap with a lovely scent. Three passes for a dolphin smooth result. Have a great day friends. :)

Decent shave today. The H type is an interesting razor. I have had trouble getting good reduction on the first pass and then feel like I'm shaving the same area over and over to get it smooth. I've avoided irritation for the most part. The blade and razor is quite comfortable when shaving but hasn't been very efficient for me. I'll keep at it for a few more shaves.

    Have a great day!

Good morning friends! Fist shave with the Shake sharp this morning. What a fantastic razor with tons of blade exposure. I have been working on loading less soap because it either ends up too thick or I have soap all over the bathroom when do I manage to thin it out enough. This morning 5 seconds of loading the Stirling was just right. I was able to thin it out enough and make it really really slick, while still having enough lather for at least 5 passes. I started with the cap of the razor on my face and started making small strokes while gradually adjusting the angle until I heard the sweet sound of the whiskers being hewn. I have to say this this razor is LOUD, with that much blade exposure I think it allows the blade to flex a little and really lets it sing. Keeping a light touch and shallow angle I was rewarded with a very close BBS shave and only one spot on my chin where the Alum told me I got a little heavy handed. Have a great day my friends!

Interesting... the J1 is already somewhat mild (but efficient). I'm surprised that Schick would have seen the need for a razor which could be made even milder.

That said, I had my first shave with the Schick Adjustable this morning using a new Chick blade and a setting of '5'. I was a little rushed as I had an early meeting and made a couple of rookie mistakes.

At first, I didn't seem to be much reduction. At that point, I realized mistake #1- leaving the "Protector" engaged. Once that was resolved, I got a very nice, smooth shave. Maybe I just had the soap dialed in right, but the Adjustable at 5 definitely seemed milder than the J1 but just as efficient. I really wonder how much I will have to shave tomorrow.

On to rookie mistake #2... after rinsing off, etc., I noticed a bit of stray whiskers under my nose and tried to dry shave them. Of course, I ended up with a nick.

BTW, in your experience, how well does the Protector protect the blade? If I wanted to travel with this razor, what precautions would I take with it?

The Personna has taken its rightful place as my favorite Injector. Such effortless and enjoyable shaves that are smooth as silk. Stay tuned to next week when the previous Injector king in my Den attempts to take it's throne back.

It that the "Star Trek" injector I read about? It's got clean lines, very art deco / Retro future / NASA-like design. I'm glad you found it shaves as good as it looks!

Similar but I think most people are referring to the PAL Adjustable (pssst - you can sign up to try it on the pass around thread):

Nice. Does it have the stropping handle loaded in the back of the handle?

No. I don't think these razors had those offered, as they were intended for throw away blades (at least based on my research). This typically had a wooden handle, so this one may not be original. But from what I have seen, people will often use the wood handle for looks and shave with a metal one similar to this.

So there is not a threaded hole on the back of your handle? I am trying to find a stropping handle for SE blades. Some of the ER's have the stropping attachment in the handle.

No the handle matches that of my Gem Damaskeene.

While early versions had wooden handles, most of the later versions of the Junior/Junior bar had a stropper in the handle like the example below.

While the blades of the time were not meant to be honed, they were indeed made to be stropped. Many sets included a stropping handle and there were also stropping machines offered by both Gem and Ever-Ready.

Your handle appears to be a Damaskeene handle which has the same thread.
