    Today's Shave: Tuesday August 16, 2016

    Schick E2 (Early model)
    Japanese Schick blade (6)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Santa Paula Citrus soap & aftershave

The Japanese Schick blade continues to impress me. Six shaves and still doing its best impression of a good NOS American Schick blade - a nice smooth close 2 pass shave.

Wonderful shave this morning with the PAL Adj.. Rich, creamy lather from the IB Milionario shave soap and a lovely scent. Three easy passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends. :)

Thank you buddy! Ben I highly recommend the "Dutch Danglies" blades. They are unlike any others. Karl is the man that seems to locate them from time to time if you're interested. :happy088:

Hard to plan for those blades. I've gotten lucky twice. One was a tip off from @Billyfergie and the other was that seller coming back to me later to see if I wanted to buy his lot before he put them on eBay. There is a razor on etsy at the moment that has a pack of Dutch made Schicks included but other than that, I've never seen them on a US site. :sad038:

Just saw it Karl. A type G with transparent handle. The seller knows what he has with those blades and it's priced accordingly steep...too steep! :)

He does know what he has. I wrote him to see if he had a line on getting just the blades. He loves them and uses the Dutch blades personally but said he only finds them on occasion. I figure he's pricing them at about $2 to $3 a blade and about $15 for the G6 amber Schick. Not a steal but, if you need a nice G6 and want the blades, there aren't a lot of other choices out there. :sport026:

I've got that same razor, Jayaruh. It's one of the few that *won't* go to my grandson.

not ready to to give up I took the Rapide blade back to the film. Started at the 5 micron and spent some good time working it until it was sharp enough to pop arm hair mid way from the skin. I then took it to the 3 micron and worked a good number of X strokes. Its very zen and calming honing a blade. I still need to take it to the 1 micron film but at this point it is very sharp and managed to shave a small patch of hair below my sideburn. I will finish up the progression with the 1 micron film tonight and then I will just have to wait for my strop so I can give it a go.

Aye...Sounds Good..A Wee Tip..You Don't Need to Look for the Edge being that Crisp or Sharp on Every Hone..I used to Do this that's & Why I am Mentioning it..Its Great You have got this Result as its Early Days..You will have a Killer Edge there by the Sounds of it especially After a Stropping...I am getting into the Subtleties..Once you can Sharpen a Blade its another Skill to get One that is Comfortable at the Same Time..:)

So..There is No Need to have the Blade that Sharp from the Hone at that Stage..I Learned to Have it Just a Tad Less Sharp at that Stage..On the 5 Micron, 3 & 1 Micron its Tempting to Over Do the Sets & End Up with a Real Killer Edge but Unforgiving Edge..Especially on Hard Steel SE Blades such as these..Less Sets is More..;)

:happy096:Congrats Tho..Its Sounding Good..Well Done..The Proof is Always in the Shave..Get a Strop Man..100 Sets After Coming off the Hone..:angelic007:

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick Type H
    Brush: Vulfix 2006c badger
    Lather: La Toja shave stick
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Russian Leather, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

A much better shave today than the past two days. I put in a new blade which seemed to help tremendously. First pass reduction was more in line with my other single edge or injector passes. A little touch-up on the neck and jaw line and I was as smooth as normal. It's still awkward on my top lip but I'm coming at it more across the grain and that's helping.

A good shave all in all. It's fun to try out new razors! Have a great day!

Today I had a shave with an Ever Ready/ Gem Push Button!

Had it 12 months before I noticed that head was stamped Ever Ready-made in USA ,and mounted on the Gem Push Button Handle.

    Brush- AOS Fine Badger
    Razor- Schick Adjustable (5)
    Blade- Schick Twin
    Soap- Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    Post Care- Crystal Alum
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    Stirling Barbershop

First shave with the Schick Adjustable on pass around from @twhite and I got an excellent shave. This was also my first time using a twin blade and does it ever perform great. Three passes and I'm dolphin smooth. I'm really liking this badger brush and it lathered the Route 66 soap beautifully. Not even a whisper from the alum and the Stirling Barbershop aftershave started my day off right. Have a great day folks!

    Today's Shave: Wednesday August 17, 2016

The Single Edge by Supply Provision w/aggressive base plate
NOS Personna 74 Tungsten Steel blade (4)
    The Grooming Co. synthetic brush
    Yeti Snot soap
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave

Over the past few days I've revisited my 4 favorite injector razors which are, in no particular order: PAL Adjustable, PAL Injecto-Matic, Schick I1 w/Twin blade, Schick E2 (early model). Today I jumped into the 21st century with The Single Edge.

Well sort of, since it was loaded with a 1970's era Personna 74 tungsten blade. :signs002:

The Single Edge does not feel like any other injector - it really doesn't feel like an injector at all. This is primarily due to the weight. With its all stainless steel construction The Single Edge weighs in at just under 4 oz, more than 3x the weight of the typical injector.

This is not a bad thing, just different. The razor feels great in the hand and after a bit of a learning curve delivers a great shave. Today's shave was simply outstanding, BBS with just 2 passes. :happy088:

Of course, the blade may have had something to do with that.
