Me neither. I have two others, but they both are much thinner at the base. More shallow is probably a better way to describe it.
I found a set on eBay, with the same brush that I'm waiting for the postman to deliver, except this one appears to be that butterscotch colour. I also notice the writing on the brush's base is black rather than clear, as in my photo. Do you think, this is an early plastic brush (1930) that has changed colour and how might you account for the painted lettering. That's all folks...
That is a Gillette brush made for Gillette by Rooney. These were their "budget" brushes, and were commonly found in the larger chemists (phamacies) like Boots. This handle design was popular in the 70's and continued into the 80's. The UK's version of the ubiquitous EverReady C40, which was packaged in the nostalgic Burma-Shave kits or more rarely, sold under it's own name. Edit: the reason it can be identified as a Rooney is by the distinctive 6 pointed shield they used for 'information' on the back of the brush. A nice touch, as it leaves the Rooney name off of the brush, but clearly screams "Rooney" to anyone familiar with the brand. The handle style is 50's to 60's though, not 60's and 70's like I initially thought.
Thanks for the info! That tip on the Rooney shield sheds light on another brush I own. I have never known the maker, but it does have a similar shield.
