For those of you who have set a knot in a 400. Do you put the knot in the ferrule, adjust it for the depth you want, and then glue it from the backside? Or do you use some other method? Greg W.
Yes, glued from the backside after putting the knot through the ferrule. One trick that I use is to set 3 quarters on the handle portion and then screw the ferrule on with the knot pushed in. The quarters set the approximate depth that I'm looking for and ensures it's flat. Take the ferrule off, turn upside down and mount in the vice. Add epoxy and you're done.
I just finished spending 6 hours polishing up these 2 handles. Man do I HATE polishing. These are going out to a couple of members. These things are way too much work. My fingers are throbbing. I still need to polish up my handle. Maybe tomorrow.
I've heard some folks prefer a brushed finish. Consider sending with a sampler of sand papers? (Opps, too late. You and your high standards of fine finished well crafted "knock-offs" ) Mispeeled Via Kyocera / Tapatalk
I'd take it easy on you and struggle through a brushed finish. You'd have to twist my arm...that's enough
