Wonderful shave this morning with the Alumigoose. Easy, slick, rich lather from the PAA shave soap. Three very comfortable passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Loving this razor! Have a great day friends.

Third shave with my "new" Schick Adjustable. It's definitely and interesting razor and I can see why it is so well regarded. I have to confess, though, that it seems to be highlighting flaws in my technique. In Wednesday's shave (no shave yesterday), I noted that I had a couple of instances where the face of the razor would adhere to my skin and cause the blade to dig in. At the time, I blamed poor hydration of the soap I was using (Williams) but, after today's shave, I'm not so sure.

My normal routine is one pass WTG with some addition XTG buffing on the cheeks plus an ATG pass on just my neck and the area under my chin. I seem to be seeing the adhering problem during the buffing. I think what is happening is that the WTG strokes are doing a very good job both with reduction and with removing any soap residue, leaving just some damp skin. OTOH, some combination of razor geometry (e.g., flatness, lack of blade exposure), angle, and pressure is just enough to cause the razor to drag on my face. Oddly, I don't seem to have these issues with my J1, possibly due to subtle differences in head geometry. I'd really appreciate any feedback from Tom, Billy, Rufus, or any of our other Injector gurus.

Obviously, I'm going to need to tweak my technique a bit for this razor. Still, I can't argue with the results so it will be worth doing.

I'm thinking one more shave with the M3 tomorrow and then come back to it as part of a SEptember focus.

Are you re-lathering after your first pass?

 

No and I acknowledge that that is contributing to the issue.

Another fantastic shave with the Schick adjustable! Paired with a twin blade it is very efficient and a comfortable shave. I did three passes this morning and 6 hours later I still can't feel a single whisker. The Stirling felt great this morning, the AOS brush is working real well and you can't beat the Osage Rub/Florida Water mix. Have a great day folks!

 

Shave #8 on the Henckels Wedge.

My last shave was a fine shave, but I could feel the blade was not buttery smooth as it was the first 6 shaves. I proceeded to give it 10 laps on my Chromium Oxide then 100 on my strop. This did the trick. The blade is back to its former butter. DFS to BBS tonight 3 passes on 2 days growth. Had to do a bit of touchup on the neck around the Adams Apple.

I am very curious as to how long this blade will go before I need to take it to the lapping film. I did notice today a few very small nicks on the blade. I could not feel it on my face. So all is good. I am concentrating now on a good stropping motion and consistent light pressure on the strop. I am trying to get the feel of a good tension to have on the strop. All great learning fun.

That is the 66 i need to polish my handle before I mount the 49

 

As you might guess I'd try that first and see what happens.

Fantastic shave this morning. I should use Arko more often. Loads of lather from my homemade shave stick. I used plenty of water during application and during face lathering with the Vulfix brush. Arko needs lots of water anyway and I tend to not use enough when using shave sticks. But I had plenty of beautiful, slick lather.

Then the Schick H went to work. Two passes and I'm very smooth. I've enjoyed trying the H razor on pass-around. I'll be sending it on to the next recipient today.

I tried out the Featherweight last night, with a Walgreen's GEM/Personna on its second shave. Weird...now I know how they came up with the name "Featherweight". Really smooth and incredibly mild shave.

Another very nice shave with the Shake Sharp. Was able to hold the angle better today and was rewarded with a irritation free DFS! These Personnas are not anywhere near my favorite blades but they get the job done. Have a great day friends!

A very relaxing shave this morning with the PAL Adj. loaded with a "Dutch Danglies" blade. Wonderful slick, rich, sweet scented lather from the Route 66 Lumberjack shave soap. Three easy passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends.
