The Haul - August 2016

Received this NOS/NIB Rooney brush that I really like

I can't seem to find a year on the box and curious about how well it can be dated.

There's just something about vintage, never used items like this...



Here it is next to a smaller, vintage, white Kent brush:

I went back to Plymouth MA for my nieces wedding and of course I had to go antiquing. Found these in the wild

It needs a good clean and polish and it is missing a component that I think would be a copper bowl. I haven't been able to find an exact match to see what is missing. The brush in the mirrored stand came with it and is pretty good shape.


The rubber brush has some broken bristles and I am not sure what I am going to do with it other than display it.

I just picked this up today... I know I've seen a few of you with one of these, but I have nobidea about them. It's a 3 piece but the bottom clicks when turned to the right but doesn't turn to the left. US patent info on the bottom and no brand name.


Also, I didn't buy this "scuttle" but this is the best description I've seen yet for a mislabeling of a scuttle.

 

That is a Stahly Live Blade. Supposed to be a great shaver, the handle is supposed to vibrate, I've never used one so I can't help more than that

OOPS! I forgot to take pictures. However, my VS two-band badgers arrived today. They are now in their new homes. #96, #97, and #100.

The razor is a Stahly wind up. If it is just clicking, the spring may be shot. Wind it up and the head vibrates. Personally, I don't think it adds anything to the shave. Besides, I find the handle too bulky for my liking. The Stahly head, on the other hand... WOW! Screw that onto a Tech handle and it is fantastic!

That "tea cup"....??? BWA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Thanks! I was thinking Stahly but wasn't sure if that was right. I will twist the knob a bit more and see what happens.

 

You're gonna unhinge the spring. Trust me, I know.....

 

Maybe not, wind it up, just be carefull not to over do it. Couple a twists it should wobble in the hand.
Either way, the head makes for a great shave.

 

Ok.. cool, I've wound it a few times now, not too much, and no wobble.

 

Does it feel like its winding or slipping?

At this point you csnt hurt it, give it several twists, see if it wobbles.
There is no on /off, just wind it and it vibrates back unwound.
If yours doesnt, the spring is sprung.

Even so, the head is so nice, ive tried to buy broken ones to give the heads (with aftermarket handles) to my grown kids.(ive two converted to wetshaving).
