    Awesome Adjustable Arko August!!!!

    Grand Blade Trial

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum, The Veg

I was ready to go this morning and see if a bit more aggression would bring the carbon Treet to life. I checked first for any visible rust on the blade and found none which was good. I had dried the razor and blade well yesterday then dipped the head and blade in 91% alcohol to rid it of any remaining moisture. Seems to have worked.

First pass confirmed that the blade likes a bigger gap. The audible feedback was there like it should be and the reduction was better. No issues with the pass as it was smooth and didn't create any problems. Second XTG was more the same. Still lots of noise and a good second pass result. Near DFS. Third pass was ATG and Gillette Slide for a high DFS finish. I'll take it any day of the week. Alum was still quiet overall.

Since the blade isn't the sharpest on the block it may be even better tomorrow IF there is no degradation from rust. I noticed tonight that there appears to be a spot starting center blade high on the bevel even with the drying and alcohol routine this morning. As long as it doesn't advance to the blade edge I'll stick with this blade. If it creeps to the edge I'll switch to a new blade for the wide open 9 tomorrow. Hope your weekend has started well. I'm looking for two big days of sales. Or is that hoping and praying? Need them.

Mystic Water is a soap that for some reason has eluded me. A good friend kindly gave me 2 pucks, and tonight was my first opportunity to try it. Needless to say, I've been missing out on an outstanding soap. This was an excellent shave, but it didn't come without it challenges. If I understand it correctly, this is the latest soap base formula from Mystic Water. Initially, I really struggled to get any semblance of density. As I face lathered, all I could come up with was a thin, watery, substance with visible bubbles. It's a tallow soap, so I started with a barely damp knot and I loaded what I believed to be more than enough product to achieve 3 face passes. My experience with this HMW knot is that rarely will I have enough lather for subsequent 3 head passes, so I anticipate reloading for the dome shave. Regardless, I was getting nowhere despite small, incremental dribbles of water directly on the knot. Undeterred, I started over before even attempting to shave with this poor excuse for a lather. I then had a slightly more moist knot, but I decided to use tepid water. I had started to sense I was getting a little brush burn on my neck, but I still proceeded to face lather for the second time with the knot loaded to capacity. This yielded a much better looking lather, but it was still on the thin side. I proceeded with the shave and instantly recalled my first experience with Dr. Jon's (Bandit). The appearance was deceiving. My skin felt like it had been buttered. The slickness was unbelievable. Everything was smooth sailing henceforth. I achieved a very comfortable 3-pass face shave followed by an equally comfortable head shave after reloading. I note that the residual slickness rivals that of probably any other soap I've used. The Vanilla Sandalwood was a perfect balance and just smelled elegant. I finished with Barrister and Mann's Beaudelaire, and it paired quite nicely bringing said elegance down to earth, if you will.

I look forward to using Mystic Water again, and hopefully, I'll remember to adjust my process to accommodate this unique soap.

Excellent shave this morning with the Stahly head and Maggard MR5 handle fitted with a GSB. The Stahly is such a smooth shaver and very safe as well. I'm not saying you couldn't cut yourself with it but you'd have to be trying really hard. My Haslinger shave stick provided bountiful, rich, protective lather. Three passes with some touch ups today for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day guys. :)
