I Had an Awesome Shave Today with My Freshly Honed Japanese Hamilton 6/8th..I was Never Quite Happy with the Wickedness of this Blade from the Vendor I Got it from..It was Shave Ready but Far too Yang in My Books..I Took it back to the Bevel Hone & Started Again as it Clearly had been Honed on some Sort of Natural Stones due the Scratches Under the Micro Lens..

Talking of Far Too Yang..I Have been a Serious Internal Martial Arts Student & Teacher for Many Years Now...The Tai Ji or Yin & Yang Diagram above Represents the Chinese Theory & Practice of Universal Natural Forces...What Most People Don't Realize is What those 2 Dots Represent in the Yin & Yang Symbol..

Those 2 Dots Represent a Dot of Yin within the Yang & a Dot of Yang within the Yin..Even When I am Striking a Fatal Blow in Marital Arts there Must be a Dot of Yin within the Yang Strike...Conversely there is a Dot of Yang within the Yin when Neutralizing an Attack..These are the Hidden Secret if there is One in Internal Chinese Gung Fu Systems..The Twist for Me of Course is that Someone can be Destroyed by Harmonious Forces..

I Apply My Gung Fu Knowledge & Understanding of Yin & Yang when I Hone My SRs..This Blade was Too Yang before I Honed it..The Blade Now has a Dot of Yin within the Yang as Represented in the Tai Ji Diagram...In Other Words.. There is a Dot of Softness Within the Hardness & this Edge..Its a Far More Comfortable & Forgiving Edge than before I Honed it..Paradoxically it Even Feels Sharper..There is a Harmonious Balance of Yin & Yang Forces...

It was a close, smooth shave this morning. It took me several tries over the last couple of weeks to hone this one up as I'm a novice at honing. However, the efforts paid off this morning!

 

Yep. My 10 yr old likes the Kung Foo Panda movies too.

Shave number 10. Wow, we have a winner. I refreshed the hone on a newly purchased SR and everything started to fall into place. In a little bit of synchronicity I had my phone in my pocket and it pocket dialed Spotify which started playing, Knocking on Heaven's Door. Appropriate as I got a glimpse of shaving nirvana tonight. Nearly every stroke was smooth and I felt I was whipping around a Schick D on my face. First pass reduction was way better than usual and the end result the best yet. A few weepers from my wild abandon but nothing needed any real attention.

That's great news Karl! Wow! It took me till shave 28 before I was anywhere near happy with the results. Imagine where you'll be by shave 100!

Anyway, keep focusing on technique, use a wet lather, keep the angle low and never take your eye off the blade.

This morning I used my Case Temperite wedge. Paired up with Stirling glacial lemon chill, Semogue boar and store brand aftershave, and, two passes later, I had a wonderful shave!

The wedge gives a much different feel than a hollow ground razor, yet the results are excellent! Smooth, comfortable and silent! I like this razor!
