To pick up where my other thread left off. Here are some details on my first DE Razor I picked up in Italy. From the other thread: The reason I bought this razor is it was the firs DE razor I saw in a store. I started using a brush after stumbling on mantic's video about a year ago and from that day I wanted to try de shaving but didn't know where to start. I only found this site and other similar site's after purchasing this DE and my brush. The razor looks a lot like with a slightly different handle pattern. The back of the box it came in (a nice navy one) has a sticker on it with the words: "Rasoio Crom. GR. Art. 42107" on it. Which I think just means chrome razor and the article number. The company logo is a little stylized so I wasn't sure what the name was at first but I now believe it to be Fatip. Anyone have a similar razor or any information on it?
I agree. A beautiful razor. I am not familiar with overseas designs so could you please enlighten us as to what makes it a "flat tip"?
Well, bludman you sure have livened up the DE razor and brush sections with something new. Nice looking equipment!
I have the same razor as the one in your photo. Mine is called a Mühle R41. It's nickel-plated and is quite aggressive. I bought it through the Mühle website. I understand there is another model, the R89. Charles.
Thanks Johan. I don't know anything about Parker razors. Where are they made, and why do you think they made this one? Charles.
Fatip, I think it's the brand name. I'll post pictures soon. @Bronco: I've got a few more interesting items to post about (both DE related) as my mother recently went through some old boxes that had been in storage for a decade and had some interesting finds. Stay tuned!
That's really cool. I'll have to look into that more now. Mine isn't quite the one in that picture but it's similar. Again, I'll post pictures soon. I have to find some time and my camera. -Ben
YES! I would say that mine is 99.9% identical (the bevel at the top of the handle on min is slightly less pronounced) but it is the same razor.
Well, we're getting closer to figuring this out! Mühle sells this on their website as an R89: http://www.muehle-shaving.com/shop/razors/classic/1/safety_razor/2/8/R_89_1 You seem to have the same model, but made by FATIP. And Johan reckons that the first one (the one I called the R41) is manufactured by Parker and then rebranded. "It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma."
The Shaver Shop chain in Australia sell the Muhle-Pinsel R89 in an unmarked box.The sales guy told me it was made in Italy, which confused me a little.I thought Muhle products were made in Germany. The razor is a very good but aggressive shaver. You have to make sure the blade is aligned properly, because there is a fair bit of play. I'm very happy with mine, but proceed with extreme caution for the first couple of shaves.
