1. Glad you like it. They were fun to make. Looking forward to your knot choices.

  2. I was eyeballing the knot on my Omega #10098 this evening. It kind of has that straight across cut of the original knots. A bit wide at 27mm, but tall like a NOS at 65mm.

  3. I just ordered an Omega 10065. I think it will look nice.
  4. Some folks have opted to use badger or synthetic. Good for them to customize to their liking. Trying to keep the original look as I'm a purist when it comes to restoring vintage anything. Also I like a big boar brush.

The 10065 is good sized at 52mm loft X 25mm diameter.

  5. I'm a purist as well. But, I'm going to have fun with the second collar.

  6. I'm thinking synthetic. I've only tried one and I do like it. Not sure how The Body Shop knot compares to other latest gen synths. Doing lots of lurking, watching what others say about theirs.

  10. Are you planning on keeping or cutting off the black collar? If you cut it off that knot will be more like a 22mm. I think omega gives the measurements based on the collar being on.

That 2nd collar needs a tuxedo knot my friend. I have a blank from the switchback 400 and it fit perfect.
  11. I plan on cutting off the black collar. I believe it will fit nicely if I do.
The Tuxedo knot is probably what I will order for the other collar.
    Thanks!
  12. This is going to look nice. Now to glue it up.

  13. It already does! I don't have a problem with folks using a 400 handle and the knot of their choice. Installing a knot that comes as close to NOS as is available inspires me to restore mine the same.

  14. Thanks. I'm kind of a purist. I'll have fun with the second collar.
  15. I set the donor boar knot last night with silicone. I did not want the silicone to interfere with the threads,or glue the collar to the base, so I screwed the collar on over a piece of plastic.
I let the silicone set for a couple of hours then unscrewed the collar and removed the plastic. The silicone was still soft where the plastic had covered it.

I let the silicone harden overnight and then screwed the brush together. It should be good to go tomorrow

This knot looks very nice in this handle!
  16. Great Idea. Glad you shared that. Hope you like how it performs.

  17. I'm sure I will Tom. Thank you for such beautiful work making this handle!
  18. I am very happy with how this brush turned out. It looks just like my vintage Rubberset 400 and lathers wonderfully. Plus it's a beauty

  19. Does the knot, not rest on anything? I somehow thought there would be a cavity, within the ferrule, to drop the knot into (onto). Does the knot have to be a tight fit in the ferrule, and if so what size is it for a 400? How do you know, how deep to set a knot? Thanks.
