Prep - Noxzema / Hot towel
    Pre shave - Prep
    Razor – Barbaros TR-1
    Blade – Astra SP
Brush - 'The Duke' (Duke 3 Best)
Soap – Nanny’s Traditional Moroccan Sands
    Post - Witch Hazel

The Barbaros is such a smooth shaver, but I'm still searching for the blade that will mellow it out..or maybe the Moroccan Sands just isn't offering enough protection for me... BBS, but just a touch too much..

A 2 pass shave, 1st pass, WTG. nice and smooth, easy sailing all the way. The 2nd pass, ATG/WTG/XTG, and clean up. Boo Boo all gone, whew! Back to my regular rotation. a firm BBS, got most of the area under my chin (90%). Only " Bunny" cleans it totally. My best to all.

Looking at the newspaper from @billdog2 , I got to wondering how many of us would like to be able to get our hands on a low mileage 1940 De Soto Sedan for $1145. Actually, I would gladly buy any of those cars.

This morning was my initial shave with Colonial Razor "The General" and one word, Impressive. Move over Mongoose as you have been supplanted by The General razor. Excellent two pass shave with zero touchups. As I found out with the Standard Razor 1.5 years ago, a razor doesn't have to be heavy to be efficient. Light in the hands but feels balanced, and the finish on this one is perfect. No marks of any kind on the finish, all the edges line up perfectly, and the blade fits is tight with no wiggle room at all. Smooth on the face like a Feather AS-D2 but I'm sure if you are not careful it will bite you. I have a spot on the right side of my chin, on the underside that requires touch up with all my razors except the Cobras, Toggle, Fatboy and Standard and now I can include the General. With the Mongoose I have to go over this trouble spot two times with touch-ups but the General, no problem at all, took it down with the first WTG pass. I believe Kyle Evans stated this razor is going to be $59 and in my book a steal at that price. CR had sent out a message to those on the wait list that this first batch had two minor issues they noticed: slight marring on the side due to the clamping and blade taps tighter than expected so selling first batch at $49, but the razor I received had ZERO defects. Heck at $99 I would buy this one as it shaves me closer than my SS Mongoose. My Classic Cobra and King Cobra are still the razors to beat in closeness of shave, but they are razors you have to pay attention while shaving, but as noted I didn't fear the blade at all with the General. Definitely a keeper in my den.

Ah, the Nivea/Brut combo again. My sense when I tried the Nivea was that it felt and looked smoother than the Edge.

I`m not familiar with the Edge. I really prefer Gillette Gel/ Old Spice (original) over any other, but I guess it`s a matter of personal choice.

Have you had any lather issues with the LEA soap? The first few shaves with it made a wonderful lather, but now I cant seem to get a stable lather no matter what I do. Really like the scent.

    Grand Blade Trial

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum, Old Spice

Hard to believe August is almost done. Wow! Seems like Summer just started and we're a few weeks away from Autumn now. Which, in the STL area, means nothing really. It can stay hot and muggy for weeks still.

The Grand Blade Trial marches on as well into the second day of the Royal Stainless Super. First day was a very nice shave with signs of a sharp blade at work. Today we switch over to the Omega 10066 and I'm now willing to say - it is my second favorite boar. That's not a bad thing, but it is still surprising how much faster and efficiently the 620 seemed to get lather yesterday. And lots of it.

First pass today was as smooth as a blade can feel, I think. Didn't really notice the blade at all and the result was a great reduction. Second XTG was equally smooth. Even on the neck there were no problems. Third ATG and Gillette Slide pass equally smooth. I noticed one little ding in the feeling on my neck but no blood appeared and alum didn't produce a sting there. The finish? A solid BBS! Very, very nice. Sometimes the sharpest blades go from a great shave at 2 and then get a bit harsh at 6. The final test will be the wide open 9 tomorrow. Will it be equally smooth and mild feeling or will it switch to a beast?

Alum was quiet, the Old Spice gave a minor burn but that's ok. Broke it out early to get it ready for SEptember.
