    Thanks very much @PLAla.
Thank you amigo. The brush feels excellent in the hand and I'm really start to favor 2 Band knots. It is a real looker in my opinion. A little finishing wax goes a long way with wood handles. Thanks for the tip. :happy088:

The brush is a real looker for certain. Very classy looking in my opinion.

I'm doing SEptember. It's not much of a challenge, as I've used SEs most every day for the last six months. My rotation, in no particular order:

    Schick E2 injector
    Ever-Ready 1907 lather catcher
    British 1912
    1914 little lather catcher
    1924 Shovelhead
    Gem MMOC
Mongoose (current version) with Feather Pros
Alumigoose (current version) with Feather Super Pros

I'm also going to give my PAL Injectomatic a tryout. My other SEs (various E, G and Featherweight injectors and various milder Gem blade razors) will sit out this month.

My current favorites are the Schick E2 and the 1907 lather catcher.

I want to join in the fun for SEptember so I am going off focus for today and using an Every Ready SE. Instead of a cheap drugstore AS I am going with a cheap drug store cologne. Since I was not born with sex appeal it is good to know when I need sex appeal it is just few spritzes away. A word of caution do not use this when you are out and about with your wife or girl friend, they will be pissed by all the attention you get from women. ;)

I always hand strop my GEM blades or they are too rough the first shave. Nice shave today the Arko made lot's of good lather and As across the board for today's shave plus now I have sex appeal. It is not a holiday here so off to work.

Grand Blade Trial - Day Off

Razor - Schick Type E Injector
    Blade - schickinjector.jpg (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum, Stetson

Well it's Sunday, my day off from the Trials and it's SEptember....so I need to take the opportunity to jump in with one of mine. I grabbed the Type E Injector and loaded a fresh Schick blade (China) and decided to enjoy the Fat. Now, there's been a bit of fun with the Fat lately about its reputation as being a tough latherer. I followed some excellent advice when I first started with it. Soak the puck, use a stiff brush, shake the brush dry after soaking it and load it upside down. Then, face lather. I have found one added detail that absolutely makes this a first rate soap. Use a Semogue 620. Holy cow, ladies and gentlemen, it was making lather even while still upside down to load. I had enough in that stiff little brush to go three passes and probably do the laundry, dishes and one time over washing the car.

It's been over a year since I used an injector and I had forgotten how they handled. Didn't take long to get it under control. The blades are thick and stiff and sharp. First pass was very effective and also quite smooth. In fact all three passes were as long as I kept the angle shallow. I even managed some Schick Slide action on the third pass and finished with a very nice BBS baby! Now,the tradeoff? Boy did that alum light up. Yeah, even though I tried to keep the pressure off I was reminded how these razors work. Great shaves but they demand a bit of respect just due to style.

Finished up with Stetson and out the door I went. Hope your Sunday was great and here's to a great Labor Day tomorrow - and twelve hours of selling my butt off!

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

I picked up the generic Personna Reds for the next Trial blade tonight at Walgreens. They're labeled as Studio 35 Men's there. Normally they have these blades next to the Van der Hagan blades and that's it for DE blades. However - look what I found right next to them tonight and brought home.

    new blades.jpg

Gillette Platinum-Plus. Three tucks of 3 blades each for a total of 9 for around 7 bucks. The package says Made in Brazil. So, I"ll be adding that blade into the Grand Blade Trial to see what's up with it. This is the first different blade I've seen at Walgreens so I'm very very curious about it. And, I'd say the demand for traditional shaving goods is getting a bit louder for them. Interesting that Gillette is apparently making this blade for the American market, or at least adopting it into the market. And yes, I'm already trying to figure out all the details.

Shave #3 with the 1912 Gem

    09-03-16JPG.JPG

    2-day growth, 3-pass shave (WTG,XTG,ATG)
    GEM PFTE blade (3)

My best shave yet with the 1912 and BBS without a chase!
Was it the longer beard growth, requiring me to do a 3-pass instead of the usual 1-pass?
Perhaps the slower pace of the shave on this Sunday of a holiday weekend?
    Is the blade smoothing out?
Or maybe I’m just getting the hang of it?

I’ve learned to never question a good thing so I won’t.
I am really loving the results though.

    Happy Labor Day weekend gents!

Everything remains the same except the razor. Today, the GEM 1912 finished the job that the Schick C didn't quite finish. Nice Labor Day shave.

    SEptember 5 SOTD:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Stirling Glacial Wintergreen
    Gem Junior
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Barbasol Pacific Rush AS

Another good shave with this razor. I think this might be a little smoother for me than the 1912. Both are great, but this one has just a but of an edge in comfort. I hadn't used the Stirling Glacial Wintergreen in a while, so it was time to pull it out. It was cold. I can still feel the menthol, and the Pacific Rush added to it. It's like a little slap in the face to wake me up on this Labor Day morning. I hope everyone has a great Labor Day!
