The ferrule is open all the way through. If you need to space it up, glue something in under the knot. Mine wasn't a tight fit and the silicone filled the gap nicely. I just experimented with spacers and ended up using none because I liked how it set.
Finished up my other 400. Polished it out and mounted the Omega 10049 knot. The loft is 65mm. It looks pretty good. Almost like an original. I will try it out tomorrow night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tom, did you have to modify either the knot or ferrule to squeeze the Omega 10049 into your B-400? That is as close a NOS knot as I've seen so far! Those handles are sweet, too.
Rick Yes i did. I had to sand down the outside diameter of the knot plug. I also needed to open the ferrule. The epoxy in the brush bleeds out and makes the knot larger past the end of the plug. If you want to use the 49 knot, I will modify one of my spares for you. That way you can just slip the knot in. That will be the simplest way. The handle I mounted the 49 in has the ferrule stuck. So I could not bore the ID at work. I will post how the 49 works tomorrow. I really like the looks of the 49 knot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love how the one on the right performs. It has nice backbone and is getting softer each time. I am pretty excited to try a longer loft out. I am a big boar fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's coming! An expensive 400 #3, mostly due to the postage fee, from America and an unexpected customs charge! I've got no idea why. It arrives on Saturday
I saw the auction. It was certainly shiny, but sold for less than some I've watched. I do hope he recovered his investment. And it wasn't me.
I have a suggestion. Put shaving brush in the listing title next time. You missed everybody that searched on Rubberset shaving brush.
I would have had it, but eBay wouldn't let me bid because their was no international postage option, or something.
I got mine, in the end. It was expensive and here it is. I cut the brush off; it smelled like it had been dead and rotting for a good while. It was so bad. Has anyone any ideas how to remove the ferrule; it is solid. I have a hobby vice, but I'm a little afraid to tighten it right up in case I squash or mark the ferrule. I don't have a strap wrench - yet. I tried a squirt of WD40. I tried heating the ferrule and chilling the handle. Nothing so far.
