I made this a while back to give my "shave den" a somewhat custom look, and I think it is really cool that TSD actually has a section dedicated to the DIY shaver. So, submitted for your approval or ridicule... A piece o' lumber, and decorative moulding... A few mitre cuts and globs of glue later... A little drill action... Some paint, antiquing glaze, and clear coat... Toss in a few satin-finish stainless steel hooks... And...voila! A wall-mounted razor holder. Fully loaded, and ready to shave... Different view... In all of their nickel-plated glory... From a distance... Just a little something I concocted to enhance my shaving addiction, which isn't half-bad, I suppose, since my significant other gave me full approval to mount it.
very nice! You also have a nice collection there as well. I've been trying to come up with something similar for my straights, but so far inspiration has alluded me.
Great idea, and a nice piece you made. It matches quite well with the other decoration on that wall too. :signs107
That was my intention -- to match the shelf you see, as well as a larger one on the opposite wall where my brushes and more razors sit. The original holder (of which we will no longer speak) had a bad stain job and brass hooks painted black that chipped kind of easily. I really wanted to use stain instead of paint, but I couldn't get the color to look right. Even though this one could certainly stand some tweaks, it is a quantum leap from my first attempt.
It certainly does! Rick, where did you find the stainless hooks with the ball ends? I may have to dust off the tools for one of those!
You did a nice job on that! @freebird: Substitute some eye hooks for the pegs and put a rail on the bottom and you're all set.
