I replied with soaps, but if it is aftershaves ye are looking for, I would give my vote to either pinaud virgin island bay rum or ogallala bay rum...as @mrchick previously mentioned
Not for me. I enjoy them. My main complaint about many bay rums...or really, any scent for that matter...is that many have a lack of layers or complexity. Both of those seem to have multiple layers, if you will.
That might convince me to try Ogallalla. I like the history of that BR-the heritage of the "wild west", etc.
No, not yet. Only Artisan soap I've tried so far is Stirling Barbershop Bath. Still plenty to go. Good reads on the Anne Bonny, I see.
One of the reasons I like the plain Ogallala Bay Rum is that I don't end up smelling like a Christmas ham. I really like St. John's Bay Rum for the same reason. Wonderful stuff.
The nicest bay rum-scented aftershave and soap I ever used is Krampert's. I never tried the OSP Bay Rum aftershave but I do have the soap and I think it smells lovely.
I can tell that I am going to really have to expand my Bay Rum horizons. For now, I have ordered some Mountain Mike's and Ogallala Bay Rum with Lime and Peppercorns. I also ordered some Ogallala Bay Rum cologne. I'll post some reviews when I get them. I did look at the Kramperts, but I got swayed by the Frostbite instead, so that is en route as well.
I am a little late to this show, but here are selections of Bay Rums I use regularly, in order of preference : 1) Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood 2) Captain s Choice BR 3) Olgalla BR 4) Masters Bay Rum (Dirt cheap at drug store) 5) Superior 70 (light and fades fast) One I was not to keen on was Suavecito BR. Too much like an Easter ham for my taste.
I currently have Captains Choice BR, Ogallala BR, Dominica BR, Royall Bay Rhum and they are all good but they are all the same exact scent IMO. In addition to those I also have Ogallala Double Strength BR and Captains Choice Cat o' nine tails and they are the same scent, just like the others but a little stronger. I do like them all.
Not familiar with WAHL. However I forgot to mention that I also have Superior 70, Master, and Clubman Virgin Island. They're extremely inexpensive and used sparingly. lol
I have Clubman VIBR, Taconic BR Shave Cream and Stone Cottage Bay Lime Shave Cream. Stone Cottage is in North Jersey which for me was a decider as I live here in the Great Garden State. After reading all the above, I see I have a lot of new BR to check out!
